I think that it's too far away from the base vampire. She loses one level of aus, dom, pre & vic and gains two levels of for & vis and one level of pot.

original:

Name: Virstania, The Great Mother
[CE:V, BSC:X]
Cardtype: Vampire
Clan: Tremere
Group: 3
Capacity: 7
Discipline: dom pre vic AUS THA
Camarilla: If Virstania is ready, any ready slave Gargoyle may remove his or her slave status and become an Independent vampire as a +1 stealth action, and non-slave Gargoyles can bleed at +1 bleed as a (D) action that costs a blood.

Maybe keep her as Tremere and put clan change on merged ability?

(merged) Virstania becomes Independent Gargoyle and gains one level of for & vis.

and if you add one level of vis to advanced version then her merged disciplines would be: dom for pre vic AUS THA VIS

That's intentional. It's not a vampire that gained more experience, it's a vampire that was transformed into a new 'creature' and a new individual all together.

Trying to pull gargoyles from WoD, though there aren't many. Thought turning Virstania was a nice twist =P

Sure, but imo that transformation should come from merging, not just playing adv vampire alone.

In practical terms, it doesn't make a whole lot of difference - you can play the base vampire, who is roughly balanced, or the advanced vampire, who is roughly balanced. So not a huge power issue at that point.

In terms of roleplay fluff, you can justify it either way. Imagine a skilled thaumaturge (base). Said skilled thaumaturge goes through a ritual to en-Gargoyle-ify herself. That ritual has unexpected side effects, such as limiting the vampire's use of Vicissitude or Presence (advanced). Over time, the vampire is able to restore her former abilities alongside her Gargoyle ones (merged).

Being a fairly large Gargoyle without Flight is quite an annoyance, given that Flight has some great cards for Gargoyles - Patrol, As the Crow, Dive Bomb.

I'm not sure how I'd work it in there, but I'd try to work it in at Advanced (not Merged) level. Possibly drop the intercept special, restrict it to once per turn, or something like that. "Once per turn, Virstania can burn a blood to give an untapped Gargoyle +1 intercept", maybe. Or "When Virstania enters play, you may burn a pool to give her Flight for the rest of the game." Not sure how to word that so that it would work if you had the base in play and merged in the advanced. Possibly just also include Flight at the merged level, possibly redundantly.
