Wouldn't that be pretty close to a LCG format core set or a starter kit?

'Cause they said that they're definitely working on something like that.

Or am I missing a key difference?

Nope. People might remember that I suggested such a thing long time ago.

You could put say, five beginner-preconstructed decks into such a box, with wide rulebook (it no longer has to fit into a deckbox), large quantity of plastic pool counters, edge, and so on.

Call it "starter kit".

Have Black Chantry thought about a "board game" version of V:TES?

For roughly the past five years, yes. I also said this two weeks ago:

A Starter kit would be cool. I'd buy one and give the content out as promo for new players

Cool, I think the difference between a "starter set" and and a "board game" set is just marketing / perception. One of the appealing things about board game is that they're self contained / complete — you just open them and play once you've read the rules.

Great that it's on the agenda.

It's strange that there's never been an everything-you-need-in-one-box product for V:TES. :)

Yeah, the previous starter kit was some what underwhelming — more of a demo kit as opposed to a full game.
