Congrats to Pascal. I know he will do a good job.

However, I cannot stop myself from asking for some public explanation of what in my eyes is a very surprising move on the part of VEKN.

What caused LSJ to step down and/or the VEKN board to replace him?

Scott said he was easing out, and that his presence on the VTES forums would be restricted to boardgamegeek.com.

LSJ's choice of the "Rulemonger" nickname on BGG did not certainly indicate he desired to stop giving rulings... nor his rulings were less adequate or less rigorous than before.

Also, does this mean LSJ will stop answering questions altogether?

I do not think he stops answering questions there.

Because if not, that would create more than a conflict, as his authority has become very solid (and rightly so) through the years.

In case of a conflict, Pascal's rulings will prevail.

Well, I haven't really done anything yet - except accept the proposition that was made.

As Salem said, it's (again) time to thank LSJ for all he's done, and congratulate him for keeping the game alive for so long.

I'm pretty sure LSJ pretty much retired on his own.

LSJ's choice of the "Rulemonger" nickname on BGG did not certainly indicate he desired to stop giving rulings... nor his rulings were less adequate or less rigorous than before.

He picked that title on BGG way before any of this happened, and he was operating as a rules info point on BGG from the point that WW announced that VTES was dead and, well, now.

Also, does this mean LSJ will stop answering questions altogether?

It seems likely that he will phase himself out of the process--he is only active on BGG these days, and there is very limited VTES discussion over there at this point.

Wow. That's a surprise.

Congratulations Pascal. Good luck to you and all the best. There are easier jobs than being the rules director.

A big thank you for your time and effort, Scott.
