The impulse actually is defined in the rulebook, it's just called something else: sequencing. Sequencing is colloquially referred to as "passing the impulse".

If the word 'impulse' does not appear in the rulebook, it is not defined.. Maybe this part of the rulebook should be rewritten.

So, again, "sequencing" is the official term. "Impulse" is the colloquial name that was given to sequencing that is used on this forum. They are the same thing, so the concept of impulse is defined in the rulebook, it's just called "sequencing". It's like how non-strike damage done in combat is referred to as "environmental" damage. Environmental damage is not described in the rulebook, but this term is used on this forum and in rulings to describe non-strike damage done in combat.

Hi,
What exactly does cancel the block part Clan Loyalty's text mean? No tapping for succesful block? Other effects?

Clan Loyalty

Action Modifier
[1 Blood]
Only usable when this vampire is successfully blocked by a vampire of the same clan (play before combat).
Cancel the block and combat. The action continues as normal, and no vampires of that clan may block the acting vampire for the remainder of the turn.

Artist(s): Drew Tucker

Set(s): DS:C2, FN:PG

I couldn't find any relevant ruling stating otherwise: "Cancel the block" means that the blocking minion is not locked, that there is no combat (cardtext is redundant), and that the actions continues (cardtext is redundant again).
It's an old cardtext that needs update.

How about making it a simple Block Fails effect? Waiting for the block to be successful makes very little difference in practice, but it has the big disadvantage of forcing the effect to go back in time.

Like Horrific Countenance, its cardtext may be updated some day (when it can be reprinted).
