It is a common mistake to assume that directed actions against your own minions gain +1 stealth simply by turning into undirected actions. This is usually because players assume that the rescue-a-vampire-from-torpor action (0-stealth directed action against another Methuselah or a +1 stealth undirected action against yourself) is analogous to the behavior for all directed-to-undirected actions.

Yes. Rescuing your own vampire from torpor, leaving torpor, hunting, political actions, equip actions, recruiting allies, and employing retainers are fundamental undirected actions in the game that also get the exception of having +1 stealth. The problem is, in real life, the +1 stealth is really not an exception. It's the rule for the most common undirected actions a player can perform.

The rulebook needs a dedicated section explaining directed and undirected actions. It should not be buried in the "who may attempt to block" explanation. This would not only help clarify that undirected actions usually have a default of 0 stealth, but it will also help explain the stupid (D) symbol, which has caused just a ridiculous amount of confusion ("I am going to enter combat with your minion as a (D) action, so you have to tap your minion because it is an action directed at you...isn't that why the (D) symbol is there?")

My playgroup used to play with the notion that actions that said "(D) Bleed" could target anybody, because it was a (D) action.

The only cardless actions that have inherent stealth (+1) are:
-hunt
-rescuing your own vampire from torpor

- Leave torpor (which isn't rescue, relevant to Catacombs and Humanitas)
- Cardless Red List rush of a marked vampire

Cardless action to become anarch.

** Edit **

And, taking equipment from your vampires (in torpor or not). Given enough effort, maybe we will come up with something else.
