map-pin Call for translators

Call for translators was created by Damnans
As announced here , our intention is to put together several groups of volunteers to work on the translation of the rulebook, all the cards, and other VTES resources into other languages.

The amount of languages these resources should be translated into undoubtedly depend on the groups that can be formed, but I think it would be great if we could translate them into languages spoken by large playerbases where English is a significant barrier to learn the game, such as:

Spanish ( all the cards have already been translated, and the translation of the 3rd Edition rulebook needs to be updated)

Portuguese

French

German (There is an old translation of the rulebook, if I am not mistaken)

Italian (I also remember the existence of an Italian rulebook hosted on Vampirismus )

If anyone else thinks that another language should be added to the above list and is willing to help to work on the translation, please let us know.

I know that some players have already translated several VTES resources (mainly the rulebook) in the past. It would be great if they could make those old translations available to the people who want to participate in this project.

During the translation of all the cards into Spanish, I elaborated a list of game terms that might be useful for the translators, which is available here:

www.vekn.net/forum/107-translations/56472-blank-list-of-game-terms

It would be great if the National Coordinators affected by the languages listed above could put together a team of translators, but anyone willing to lead a team or participating in one will be most welcome too.

For example, in this thread , some people were interested in helping as well, and had some nice ideas that could be implemented to this project.

As you can see, a new forum for translators has been created under the "City, State, Country & Region Talk" forum:

www.vekn.net/forum/107-translations

With a subforum for each language:

www.vekn.net/forum/110-french
www.vekn.net/forum/111-german
www.vekn.net/forum/112-italian
www.vekn.net/forum/109-portuguese
www.vekn.net/forum/108-spanish

Translating all the cards into Spanish took me two months of work almost exclusively dedicated to it, so if some teams can be put together the task will be a lot easier to carry out.

Correct.
I do have a version that is dated November 2005, and based on the "Legacies of Blood" version of the rulebook.
Of course, I would be willing to share.

For me it is perfect, a lot of people in Brazil will be pleased with this improvement. After the SAC13, I will start to get things moving here.

There's a French version of the rulebook.
It's pretty crappy because it doesn't reflect the terms French players really use. It would have been great in 1994, but now everyone uses a mix of French and English words.

Oh, btw, I wrote them, so I have the right to say they're crappy. ;)

Potuguese people are happy to use English.
In fact they prefer to do so.

Usually on other card games the "Portuguese" translations are for Brazil and the terms and grammar are different enough to sound and feel very strange to us.
To say the least.

I would be happy to have players and volunteers for tournaments and playtest.
Translations are so far down the priority list I'm sorry but we'll have to decline.
