Blood Cost & Allies

We were playing last night and this question came up:

If an ally is using an equipment or card which isn't restricted to vampires (e.g. it reads minion) but the action has a blood cost, can the ally pay the cost in its life?

Example card:

Codex of the Edenic Groundskeepers
Type: Equipment
Cost: 1 pool
Unique equipment.
This minion gets -2 stealth when bleeding. This minion may bleed as a action that costs 1 blood; this action gets +3 bleed if the target Methuselah doesn't control a ready untapped minion.

No, since Allies don't have blood.

And if the minion is a Rafastio Ghoul ?

Ghoul with 2 life, 1 bleed, 1 strength

Rafastio Ghoul can play cards that require thaumaturgy as a vampire with a capacity of 3. Any cost in blood is paid with her life. If a card would give her blood, give her life instead.

Or maybe the life as blood cost only works for thaumaturgy cards ?
