Slave rule and As the crow question

I have a question regarding Slave rule and As the Crow.
Scenario :
Keith Moody is bleeding - it gets blocked by Carna.
I declare Tupdog uses it's slave rule and entrs combat with Carna istead of Keith.
Carna goes to topror (after combat).
Can I play As the Crow to untap my Tupdog ?

I don't think so, because the Tup Dog was not performing an action (let alone a successful action).

Action was blocked, thus it is not successful. Can't play As the Crow at all.
(on a side note, I'm not sure sending Carna to torpor after combat would be easy)

Now, if Keith Moody had FOR, he could play Freak Drive after the Slave-combat.
Tupdog can't play action modifiers, since he's not the acting minion.

How does Keith Moody with FOR play Freak Drive when he's untapped?
