TWD - Brisbane 2011 Qualifier, 19 March, 2011

The Brisbane 2011 qualifier was held at Ace Comics, Annerley, on Saturday, 19th March, 2011.

The tournament was 3R+F with 10 Methuselah's fighting for the chance to qualify for the Australian Continental Championships to be held in Adelaide in October. We saw a range of decks, but mostly there was a lot of voting going on with some very strong political decks battling it out at the tables. Maile's deck was very memorable as it contained almost no damaging votes. The deck mostly just bloated like mad and waited to lunge at the appropriate time with My Kin Against the World and some bleed mods. The Samedi made an appearance with The Baron, we saw a Tremere/!Tremere performing cryptic missions, and there were some fairly nasty looking combat around.

The finals table consisted of Mailes vote bloat => Ivors vote bloat => Jon's Tremere/!Tremere cryptic mission deck => Steve's PRO/SER wall => Matt's The Baron Little Mt Cemetery. Maile had to go pretty hard into Ivor - his deck consisted of inner circle members that, while slow to start, invariably became almost impossible to beat once he started his Villein-Vote-Voter Cap cycle and started generating massive amounts of pool. However Ivor made a mistake and played a Villein on his first minion, Lutz, leaving him with just 2 blood. Ivor wasn't aware of Jon's deck and was promptly hit with Cryptic Missions for the rest of the game, effectively robbing him of actions. Maile got Ivor rather quickly and eventually the table timed out. Congrats Maile on her win!
