Australia & New Zealand Continental Championship 2013
Sydney, Australia
October 6th, 2013
3R+F
15 players

Deck Name: The Quiet Achiever 2013
Created By: Peter Rophail
Description: A 2013 incarnation of the deck I used to win the 2005 Australian Championships.
This deck never seems to do much, but is very effective. Table play is critical, especially early on. Most VP's scored by "lunging" (with Pentex Subversion) or by combat late in the game. Very difficult to oust, especially if allowed to set up. The absolute key is to use Magic of the Smith to bring out the Heart as early in the game as possible. From there you have most tables covered.

Bleed decks win VPs, Wall decks games. (Of course, that's an exaggeration, but still ...)

Congrats to Peter! Third or fourth continental championship win?

Extrala,
This is Peter Rophail's 3rd AUSNZ Championship.
It's also a very good summary of Peter's ability to play VTES because until the Last Chance Qualifier (at which he needed to qualify and got 0.5VP more than a bare qualification under the new rules) he had not played a game for three years and was asking other players for quick social games 45min before the tournament to 'knock out the cobwebs'.

So from quasi-retirement, to qualifying, to Continental Championship Win in 2 days.
