The AUSNZ Continental Championships was held on 6th October 2013 at Mars Hill Cafe in Parramatta, Sydney NSW Australia.

There was a relatively low attendance, most of them because of unavoidable family commitments or work, which was unfortunate. We had 15 players, three of them had qualified on Saturday 5th in the Last Chance Qualifier.

Surprisingly, a large number of Vote Decks (or decks using many titled vampires) made an appearance at the Championships. There were around 7 of the 15 which were primarily vote decks and a couple of others that sported large amounts of incidental votes. Many of the vote decks included "Vote Cancellers" like Quentin, Arishat, Demonstration & Scalpel Tongue.

Round 1:
There was only 1 GW awarded in Round 1 amongst the three tables. One table had a complete timeout (all players ended with 0.5VPs) mostly because of the two vote-cancelling decks on the table. Table 1 had a 2/2/1 split while Table 2 was a 1GW+4VP victory to Chris Lynch.

Round 2:
The Vote-grind continued... Table 3 had another complete timeout again because of a majority of decks being vote decks and more than one Methuselah having a way to cancel votes. Table 2 had a result with Will Allison gaining 1GW+3.5VP. Craig Kordiak gets the "Survivalist Award" for lasting the final 10 min of the round on 1 pool, with no ready vampires and both a predator and prey. His table timed out with David Wimberley 1.5VP, Craig Kordiak 1.5VP and James Bonham 0.5VP.

Round 3:
Finally the vote-lock had been spread apart as all the tables had a GW. Peter Rophail achieved 1GW + 3VP, Simon Reed gained 1GW + 3VP and Tony Wedd gaining 1GW + 3VP.

Final:
The standings for the final were:
1. Chris Lynch 1GW+5.5VP, he was the leader all day.
2. Tony Wedd 1GW + 4VP + 132TPs
3. Will Allison 1GW + 4VP + 120TPs
4. Simon Reed 1GW + 3.5VP
5. Peter Rophail 1GW + 3VP

The Seating, after some long thought out positioning was:
Will Allison (New Lawfirm) > Peter Rophail (The Quiet Achiever) > Chris Lynch (Kiasyd Bleed) > Tony Wedd (Ani-Aus Weenie Toolbox) > Simon Reed (Baali Vote)

Will, who usually brings out Maryanne Blair first mistakenly brought out Gustav Briedenstein. Peter had brought out a handful of smaller Tremere. Chris brought out a two or so Kiasyd, Tony influenced out a handful of either ANI or AUS minions (surprisingly most minions either ran ANI or AUS but not both) while Simon brought out Arishat and began work on a second.

The table itself was fairly stable, with most players taking a bit of a chunk out of their preys. Will was hit the hardest, both spending hard on minions but also between Reckless Agitation and not being able to bloat easily (which was usually done by Maryanne's text) meant he was going to have a hard struggle.

Peter also dropped an early Pentex Subversion on Chris, which did slow him down dramatically against Tony.

Peter got the first VP by ousting Chris. Soon after Will died to the onslaught of stealth vote from Simon. And at that point things seemed to settle down and Peter's deck again went into its "Quiet Mode".

35min before the end of the final, Peter scored his 2nd VP by ousting Tony which left the game as a "winner takes all" between Simon and Peter. The tussle was basically Simon's Stealth versus Peter's Intercept. In the end, about 5min before the final was due to finish, Peter got through the last point of pool damage needed to achieve victory.

This was also a very impressive coming out of retirement for Peter who hasn't really played many games in the last three years. He qualified for the Championship at the Last Chance Qualifier and before the commencement of the Qualifier was asking people for a social game to knock out the cobwebs and get back into the swing of things.

The prize for "Nuclear Blast" goes to Michael Tomkins whose Anarch Bleed deck ousted Steve Harris on Turn 4 in Round 1 by bleeding for a total of 14 in 3 actions.

Final Standings were:
