Dovey Ebfwe anomaly was created by Malachy
Greetings!

I've been wondering for quite some time now... How is this happened?

Why? To what purpose? Is there hidden meaning that's yet to reveal itself, the name is an anagram? To sum it up:

WHY DOES AN AHRIMANE HAVE AN ILLUSTRATION USED PREVIOUSLY AS A MALKAVIAN ANTITRIBU MALE???

I think "lazy artist" is a most probable explanation. As I understand there are several other such occurrences.

PS: It can be used as one more argument for number of crypt cards is too large thesis. ;)

Dovey Ebfwe is based on this fan card I designed way before Heirs to the Blood was released:

It was a card dedicated to my brother David, who usually plays all kind of Ahrimane decks.

To my understanding, when designing the HttB expansion set, LSJ decided that it would be nice to have my portrait on one of the Ahrimane vampires, that my brother could use in his decks.

So the person portrayed on Dovey Ebfwe is an angry version of myself (most likely because of my love for the Baali). The artist was given this self-portrait made in 1997 as a reference:

"Ebfwe" is a misspelling of the original "Ebwfe" on the card I designed, which in turn are the letters immediately following those in "David" in aphabetical order, except for the "f" for the sake of a bit of euphony :)

D = E, a=b, v=w, i=j=f, d=e

Thank you, I've always suspected something fishy around that name :) I'm glad I finally caught up with the card's history, but It's still eluding me why no one was puzzled by an "anti-lore" male Ahrimane, especially when it's supposed to be a picture of you, Damnans, not a copy of another card's illustration... Wasn't that noticed at the time?

That was indeed noticed at the time, and probably regarded as an exception.
