Origins, the NAC, and the VEKN as a "club"

I just sent a third follow-up email to the Origins event coordinator asking for the VEKN discount code.

2. Register as normal.
3. On the payment page there will a Coupon Code input box, copy and paste or type the case sensitive code into the box and click the APPLY button.

Haven't seen a separate topic, but I imagine Origins moving (in theory) to October has some sort of logistical implications besides my changing hotel and flights.

I called the Origins hotel line and they said they are waiting on confirmation before sending an email with instructions. I figure I wait to change flights until Origins becomes more solidly situated the weekend of Ohio State v Iowa. Though, of course, neither of those could end up happening in this futureless world we live in.

When I saw the notification last night, I went to Expedia and booked direct. Got a king room in the Hyatt for $200/night, though the site said there were only a few left at that price. (Not sure how accurate that is, there's a lot of artificial scarcity language.) After taxes my reservation was about $500 less for the four days than my booking for the hotel across the street would have been in June. My original booking was fully cancelable (my wife has some health issues so I paid a little extra for that originally, since we often change plans at the last moment) but so was this one.

TLDR: If you can cancel your current reservations without penalty, don't wait for Origins to get things sorted out, just book something.

There will be.  I've submitted the necessary information to the Origins organizers and I'm waiting to hear back from them about it.
