exclamation-circle Rules question Hell-for-Leather

24 Apr 2013 17:39 - 25 Apr 2013 06:15 #47593 by Ashur
Two anarch are in combat. Can both play Hell-for-Leather, or just one of them?

Relevant card text:
"Only one Hell-for-Leather may be played at a given Discipline each combat."

Compare with:
"A vampire may play only one Taste of Vitae each round."

"My strategy? Luck is my strategy, of course."

Given the precedent in card text -- such as Dia de los Muertos, Fortschritt Library, et.al., which do NOT mean "once per game per player -- I'd say that unless Pascal wishes to issue errata, it's "one per combat", as stated on the card.

Save Face also has this same wording.

Hive Mind, Recurring Contemplation, Transfusion, Twisting the Knife, and Veil the Legions -- although difficult to conceive being played by two vampires from two different players on the same turn -- would also fall under this notation.

You have a point there.
I don't think Hell-for-Leather's restriction was designed with that specific case in mind (I can't see any reason why both anarchs couldn't play Hell-for-Leather). I'd say that this is an error (not following a cardtext pattern).

But even if it's an error that may be fixed with the POD, in the meanwhile Pascal will tell us how to handle this.

Wow, nice catch Ashur!

Yeah, it´s a rather old card, but I guess it don´t happen that often that two anarchs want to battle it out :) (And one of the other Stockholm players showed me actually)

"My strategy? Luck is my strategy, of course."
