Hello to all!

Can Gustav successfully call Praxis Seizure: Berlin on himself? What would the end result be?

Gustav Breidenstein
Clan: Ventrue (group 4)
Capacity: 10
Disciplines: DOM FOR PRE aus cel pot
Camarilla Prince of Berlin: Gustav may tap during a referendum to gain 5 additional votes. +1 bleed.

Praxis Seizure: Berlin
Type: Political Action
Requires: camarilla
Requires a Camarilla vampire. Title.
If this referendum is successful, put this card on the acting vampire to represent the unique Camarilla title of Prince of Berlin. This could lead to a contested title. If the prince is Ventrue, his or her capacity increases by 1.

VTES is not for the faint of heart...especially when you don't have a enough blood.

I don't think he would be able to use his ability because he has to tap to play the political action long before he would gain the votes. If the referendum passes, he would have to yield one of his two titles, and he would gain the +1 capacity so long as you chose to yeild his stock title.

The end result is that a referendum is called to name Gustav Prince of Berlin.

If the referendum fails, the action card is moved to the ash heap.

If that referendum is successful, whatever is written on the referendum card happens. In our case: Praxis Seizure: Berlin is put on Gustav Breidenstein. He gains 1 capacity (he is now an 11-cap). Since the card is a title card, he (first) loses his previous title (Prince if he was prince, Justicar if he was Justicar, Primogen if he was Primogen, etc..), and then gains the new one (Prince, here, but it could be Justicar). [TOM 19960423]

Now, what happens if the title THEN becomes contested?
- The +1 capacity bonus due to the Title card is lost [LSJ 20021106]

If Gustav yields the title, burn the title card, and he no longer is Prince of Berlin (or whatever title he had before becoming Prince of Berlin through Praxis Seizure: Berlin). He also no longer has +1 capacity (because the capacity bonus goes as the title card is burned)

There is no choice. You first lose the previous title, and then gain the new one. Even if it doesn't please you, or if you wished to keep the previous title.

No matter what sect, a vampire cannot have more than one title. If a vampire with a title gains another, he loses the first title, even if the new title would be a demotion. If a vampire with a contested title (see Contested Titles, sec. 4.2) gains a title, he immediately yields the contested title.

Although it's pretty unlikely with Gustav, it's quite possible for an acting vampire to untap during an action. Examples:

- Alexandra untapping another Toreador
- Rutor's Hand
- self-Temptation
