Jost Werner with one blood had him as a retainer when he was temptationed by Nefertiti, now is this a "CAN CHOOSE" to burn the blood or burn carter so he can't be used in the upcoming snakey bleed?

The punctuation implies that he has to burn the blood if he can, but would like to know for sure.

Burning Carter instead of one blood is valid.

On the other hand, I would not wait a turn to take over a Temptationed Jost who has Robert Carter and one blood (assuming Temptation was played at superior)...

Given that Temptation states "during your minion phase", I don't see how you can use it to burn Robert Carter in this situation.
