file Damage Prevention outside of Damage Resolution Phase

Hi all,

I am wondering if one can play Damage Prevention Cards outside the Damage Resolution Phase. I have read somewhere, that it's not possible but cannot find anything in the rules or the Rulings.

The specific question is for Petaniqua, where the card says "During any round of combat after the first, a minion opposing Petaniqua takes 2 points of damage before range is determined."
The Question is, is this damage preventable by Damage Prevention Combat Cards?
Is this Damage Preventable by other cards (f.e. flak jacket) - I believe so.
Can someone point me to the Ruling, when you may play combat prevention cards?
Or is there no ruling and you can play them anytime during combat?

thnx

T

Sorry, I placed this rule question in the wrong Catecory.
can someone move this to rule questions please?
thnx

you can play cards which do not have wording "from opposing minion strike", since there is no strike. you can play other damage prevention cards (they are just much less in numbers)

The Question is, is this damage preventable by Damage Prevention Combat Cards?

Yes. The main issues with damage prevention are:

- was the damage from a strike? You can't use a card like Skin of Steel (prevent damage from a strike) to prevent damage from Carrion Crows (not a strike).

- was the damage done outside combat? You can't play combat cards to prevent damage done outside combat. For example, Catatonic Fear deals damage outside of combat, so you can't play Soak to prevent it. (But you could burn a Leather Jacket or use Surge counters.)

Can someone point me to the Ruling, when you may play combat prevention cards?
Or is there no ruling and you can play them anytime during combat?

You can play damage prevention during combat, any time there's damage to prevent. (And the damage isn't unpreventable, of course.)

Correct answers.

You can play damage prevention during combat, any time there's damage to prevent. (And the damage isn't unpreventable, of course.)

Correct. "Any time there's preventable unprevented damage" is just as good.
