Hi,

A quick question: can a 'Zip Gun' with an attached 'Magazine' and any 'Ammo' card (e.g. 'Manstopper Rounds') use the effect of the 'Ammo' card when using the 'Zip gun'?

My question is due to the wording of the 'Magazine' card (which is not itself an 'Ammo' card) providing the effect of the Ammo card rather then the Ammo card itself (see below for wording text, emphasis mine).

Zip Gun
Before range is determined, put this card on this minion. This card represents an equipment card and doesn't count as a combat card while in play. This equipment is a weapon, gun. Ammo cards cannot be used with this gun. It does 1R damage each strike, with an optional maneuver each combat. Bearer takes 1 damage during strike resolution when striking with this gun, but only once each combat. This card is kept as normal equipment and is not discarded after combat.

Magazine
Only usable before range is determined.
Put this card on a gun on this minion and put an ammo card from your hand on this card. When using this gun, you may use the effect of the ammo card as if it were played from your hand (requirements and cost apply as normal).

Manstopper Rounds
Ammo.
Only usable before resolution of a gun's strike. The gun inflicts +1 damage each strike for the remainder of this combat. No more than one ammo card can be used on a gun each combat.

Many thanks,
Edd

I think you can play a magaziine on a zip gun, but you cannot use the ammo card on the magazine, due to the sentence "as if it were played from your hand" and Zip gun explicitly prohibits the use of ammo cards, wich usualy involves them playing from your hand.

The magazine isn't providing the effect of the ammo card...it is the ammo card that provides that (use the effect of the ammo card)...the magazine is just providing a holding place for the ammo card to be playable as if it were in your hand while it isn't in your hand taking up a card slot.

At the end It comes down to what using cards constitute...using an effect provided from a card regardless if played from hand or not is still a card being used (its a card game after all) to gain the effect and if it is of the type Ammo. which the card in question is (Manstopper Rounds) then it isn't useable by the Zip Gun which has the text "Ammo cards cannot be used with this gun."
