S:CE will succeed, it is not "S:CE and do X" it is "S:CE". "Now do X". So everything after the S:CE will fail.

I agree the statement is ambiguous, as it doesn't state the requirement of an opposing vampire to end combat.

Strike: combat ends.

The strike is pretty unambiguous and is always applicable when not restricted by Immortal Grapple/NSA Trio.

The extraneous effects clearly do not apply to allies, but they do not restrict the playing of the strike.

You can't play Blisful Agony vs an ally at VAL at all (same as Taste of Vitae vs an ally).

We had this situation today, where a Salubri Antitribu used superior Blissful Agony against many attacking Shambling Hordes (very Halloween themed). after an observer carefully read the card, we realized for the first time ever that it says opposing vampire, and we had to rewind several extra combats that should never have taken place! no more sending war ghouls and shamblers after your enemies! (yay/boo)

What I'm wondering about this has to do with the way the superior effect is worded. I think it could be argued that you can not even play the S:CE at all if the opposing minion is an ally, much like the restriction on Taste of Vitae. neither card says "if the opposing minion is a vampire" but just says "the opposing vampire". also, the blissful agony extra combat is not optional (unlike form of mist)

so against allies: does the superior do just S:CE and nothing extra? or not allowed to be played for S:CE at all?

Taste of Vitae
Type: Combat
Only usable at the end of a round of combat. Not usable by a vampire going into torpor. This vampire gains an amount of blood equal to the amount lost by the opposing vampire to damage during this round of combat. A vampire can play only 1 Taste of Vitae each round.

The aim was to construct a deck that utilised Vampiric Disease (& other blood depletion tech) to force attrition on the table and then, obviously, sweep FTW!
The 2 main options seemed to be w ANI & Taunt the Caged Beast, and VAL & Blissful Agony.
Both present advantages & disadvatages, but i went w ANI as the basic Bats&Birds deck is pretty strong and could potentially win by itself (unlike many !salubri decks, sadly).

So the idea is to drop down VD (a few times). Use TtCB to force Pre/Pred combats to spread the disease.
Restricted Vitae & Hunger Moon restrict the hunting actions & generally keeps blood on minions to a minimum. Strained VS also hinders the hunting. Carvers keeps weenies down, and supplie me w blood. ANI combat keeps me at long range & does respectable damage, plus fuels Tastes of Vitae to resupply me w blood.
Some bleed tech is there - Deep song & retainers & Tier (plus the Mouse Army) w stealth - to actually get around to obtaining a VP or 2...
Crypt focuses on ANI + obf, so is a bit older than standard ANI decks.

How do you intend to oust?
Attrition to weaken the table, then bleed towards later stages of game

How do you intend to keep from being ousted?
Weaken pred, and rush w Taunt/Deep if necessary & use ANI combat. Some light intercept (more for hunting) may help slightly


What do you want your ready region to look like (ie, how many guys are you planning on getting out)?
4-5 minions by mid-game; maybe more by later stages


What do you want your average turn to look like?
VD someone, Taunt a VD'd minion into other non-pox-ridden minions, maybe rush crippled minions, maybe bleed for 1-2 once or twice.

What's your metagame like? How do your opponents play?
Melbourne metagame is v diverse - both in deck build & speed. Generally pretty strong. Allies appear regularly, also.

What problems have you observed with the deck in play?
Not played as yet
ANI combat is fairly strong, so i'm hoping that will work at least.
Bleed & Vote defence is light, aside from the overall effect of the attrition. Guns & POT w maneuvers could smash me

Overall i think the deck should function sort of OK, i'm more concerned about some inclusions (eg: Strained BS, Carvers, Tier, Zip gun, Allies [& whether to include Carlton]) and the numbers/proportion of many other cards - eg: number/ratio of Aids&Carrion, Taunt&Deep, etc
The Zip guns are included to stay as a permanent maneuver - could be a bad idea, but i was worried abt running out of Aids...

It's much stronger that Armor of Caine's Fury. It's even stronger than Skin of Rock, which is bad.

A bit redundant with WWS, but it costs 2 pool and is permanent. Seems fine, maybe too cheesy for !Sal.

Stronger than Forearm Block (but with a requirement), I'm not sure it's very needed.

Tyberius
In his mortal life he was Cataphract. After becoming a vampire he still tried to have contacts with his wife Teodora (it was not a love of his life but arranged marriage) and son (that was born shortly after his *death*). His wife was jealous of his immortality and begged him to give her the kiss but he refused. Then she made a deal with a Baali, killed their son in a ritual and was changed as a reward. When Tyberius found out what happened he killed Julia's sire but let her escape (what he regretted later). He became follower of the path of Retribution. After a quarrel with his sire he decided to leave Eastern Roman Empire and set a mission in Norway (he chose this place because he already sworn to his dying mortal friend who was member of Varangian Guard to tell his family about his death). He was pious and honorable in a Byzantine way (he treated his opponents with dignity and respected all WRITTEN pacts). He had a small mortal herd (missionaries) and treated them as people who he sworn to protect and not as his property. His main place of interests discipline-wise was Valeren and Auspex. He was also blooded and had all powers of blooding. To adjust his capacity to match his generation I propose giving him disciplines I planned to learn or had at some degree due to blessing of the name. Title is adjusted to modern time political influence he achieved. In fights he rallied on his heavy armor and negative bonuses to to opponents dice pools he generated.

Julia/Robert
During Sabbat crusade on Wroclaw Julia (!Salubri) younger packmate diabolized Robert (!ventrue). When she faced Tremere primogen in the fight she was struck with a bowl that was recently found artifact of Cappadocians. Bowl crashed, her spirit was cast aside and body become controlled by the ghost of her latest victim Robert.
Not comfortable about his death and body change Robert try not to look too pretty (because he is embarrassed if anyone tries to flatter him for his looks or flirt with him). Julia is steal with him. She can see what he sees, hear what he hears, feel what he feels but she cannot act in any way and can only wisper to Robers mind.

Valeren have some cards that influences allies but no allies that are !Salubri specific. To fill this gap I suggest ghoul that is trained and indoctrinated to become !Salubri (since they don't participate in Sabbats mass recruitments).

I like idea of making cards that are not particular discipline powers made into a card but rather way of using it. When I compared Armor of Kaine's Furry of ccg and rpg I didn't liked the fact that it prevents only strike. So I present adjusted weaker/temporary version that don't share this flaw.

I feel like this weapon should have also slight boost because built in concealed weapon is not worth 1 pool but have no idea what should it be. Alternatively it might be usable once per round or combat with 1 pool cost.

Prevent 3 damage from enemy minion strike hand or melee weapon strike.

Well, if you're only considering post-combat effects and until the end of combat stuff, yes, that's what cardtext reads.
Psyche! starts a new combat after the end of this combat.
TT continues current combat.

So, if there was something that was lasting till the end of combat (Drawing out the Beast, Torn Signpost, Carrion Crows, Weather Control, ...) they are still there in that new round after TT was played.
If there was something that was lasting till the end of combat, they end at the end of combat and Psyche! is played.


EDIT:
There are some differences between TT and Psyche!, the major one being that you can't Psyche! if there is already a combat queued (Illusions of the Kindred, sup' Blissful Agony), but you can TT (which cancels the post-combat part). That's a generic ruling - can't queue a combat if there is already one in the queue. [RTR 20020501]

Option 1

Well, cardtext isn't cancelled, it just doesn't happen. But that's how it works, yes.
However, a few points:
* Psyche / TT aren't played "in response" to a strike declaration. They are played at the end of combat, which happens at Form of Mist's resolution.
* Carrion Crows and Weather Control aren't in play, they're in the ash heap. Their effect, though, is still there. It is common usage to leave these cards in the play area as long as they have an effect, but you should remember they're in the ash heap (matters for Erciyes Fragment).

Correct, Pendargon, but this is more extensively written in the General Rulings :
Any effect that starts a new combat after the combat that was ended by (or continues the combat that was ended by) a "combat ends and the action continues as if unblocked" will nullify the "continue action" part. This includes Psyche (superior), Fast Reaction, Hidden Lurker, and Telepathic Tracking.[LSJ 19980109]

If you continue the combat or start a new combat, you lose whatever was supposed to happen after the first combat.
Lost effects can be (amongst others):
- sup' Catatonic Fear's damage
- sup' Torrent / Form of Mist / Toreador's Bane 's "action continues"
- Rötschreck's "This vampire is tapped and sent to torpor" (but the card is still put on him)
- sup' Unholy Penance's "put this card.."

Effects that continue the combat / start a new combat are (amongst others):
- sup' Psyche!
- sup' Telepathic Tracking
- sup' Hidden Lurker / Fast Reaction
- sup' Blissful Agony

With Blissful Agony you also have Hide the Heart.

Just toying w an idea for a deck - basically blood attrition:
Vamp Disease (many copies) combo'd w Taunt the Caged Beast or Blissful Agony

I kno this is not new, so i was wondering what other people's experience with either option is, & whether its worthwhile.

I kinda figure it may work best w TtCB -> combos w ANI w regular Aids/Crows combat for extra impact + Deep Song, plus large lower-cap crypt.
On the other hand, BA has slightly less restriction (aside from the somewhat large restriction of being in combat) & may combine well w !Salubri intercept plus some rush.

Thoughts??
