file Card Idea: Private Tutoring

Wouldn't it be cool if master: Disciplines were a deck building staple? Of course it would. Here's a possible step towards that goal.

Private Tutoring
Cost: X blood.
X+1 stealth action. (Or +X+1 stealth action?) Unique.
Put this card on the acting vampire. You may use a discard phase action to burn this card, untap this vampire and search your library, ash heap or hand for a master: Discipline card to move on this vampire.

Or would it have to untap the acting vampire immediately to be competitive?

Master: discipline are poor by design. They are poor because they are masters, and will remain poor.

:laso: :CEL: :DOM: :OBT: :POT: :cap8:
Sabbat.Black Hand Shakar: Lech loathe ranged weapons. Once each action, he may burn 1 blood to become Camarilla Prince of Krakow until the end of the action.

This is my exact train of thought. Wouldn't they be better if they could be functionally played as minion cards?

This card doubles the amount of space a discipline card takes up in your deck for the same net result. +1 discipline.

It also costs a minion action, which is a price people forget to count. An average 5 player game takes 12 rounds, the average minion takes 2 rounds to influence out, so on average, you can get 10 actions out of your first minion in a game and each subsequent minion would get 2 less than the previous influenced minion (barring multi-acting mechanics). Spending a master card slot and a action card slot to increase a discipline level is too costly at those rates.

In an ideal world discipline cards would become trifles, and current trifle discipline cards(ambomwe) would refund a trifle master action or give that vamp a blood.

the best way to get discipline cards has always been to fetch them for free by Diablerie. especially if you can pull them out of your ash heap.
or Third Tradition, Tumnimos, Waters of Duat. maybe Lillith's Blessing. any method that let's you play one without spending a Master.

the card idea here is interesting but is a little bit too weird and nonintuitive, and might be less efficient than using Sanguine Instruction. but I really like the idea of using a Discard Phase Action to activate it. Maybe if it were instead an Event where any methuselah could then use a Discard to search for the discipline card? It'd be very simple and clean wording, and could be fun to play.
another option: an Event that allows the spending of Influence Phase transfers to fetch a discipline card. kind of like Aimee Laroux's ability.

That's not how tutor effects work. This replaces a copy and the cost of a Discipline card with an action card and the associated costs of an action without lowering the odds of drawing into the Discipline.

I guess you would agree that the acting minion needs to untap immediately instead of during the untap phase?

Spending a master card slot and a action card slot to increase a discipline level is too costly at those rates.

I don't agree with your math. Only the minion action+discard phase action or the MPA action is actually spent on getting the Discipline. Master cards that don't need to be played with a master phase action don't spend master slots.
