Ranking List & EC Legendary Vampire Tournament

The EC 2011 is set to start in about 3 months (November 11th), and one of the first tournaments is the Legendary Vampire tournaments, which requires the participation of the 25 best players according to the global ranking. But with the current state of the ranking system I see a slight gap between aspiration and reality.

Any chances/plans to close the gap before November?

As a person responsible for organizing Legendary Vampire this year I would recommend creating the rank till end of August.

If Robyn doesn't have the rank ready, I can try to make a script/tool that would generate the rank of TOP 100 players based on Archons' data but I have to check if I have enough skills to do it .

If we will not be able to choose TOP 50-75 players based on the rank taken for Archons, I would recommend to create a rank based on the TWDA list.

Player, VEKN, points,
where points would be the sum of tournaments wins, each modified by a variable (dependant on tournament size and type).

For example
10 player's tournament - modifier - 0,8
15 player's tournament - modifier - 1
etc.
or using current modifier from Archon 1.3.

Normal/Qualifier/Championship - 1/1.25/1.5 modifier.

I have generated a RANK based on TWDA starting from January 1st, 2010 till today..
For winning the tournament each player has been given points equal to 1*log₁₅X , where X is numbers of players that took part in particular tournament.

For winning a tournament with 15 players, a player woul earn 1 point.
10 players - 0,85 points.
155 players - 1,86 points etc.

Based on that rank we will invite players to take part in Legendary Vampire Tournament during incoming EC2011 in Warsaw unless Robyn Tatu provides us with current rank calculated using Archons.

I would like to ask every player from TOP 100 to confirm his/her presence at EC 2011. Based on calculations from last year even people who are ranked 50+ have a chance to take part in the event! TOP 25 players are invited, in case someone cannot attend the tournament, the next person from the list will be invited itp.

This is probably not such a good idea (in my opinion). This means that the longer you have played the bigger your chances to qualify is. It's better with a tournament for the best players right now, then a historical exposé of who been succesful say, 10 years ago.

That's my 5 cent.

We have a serious "zonk" with rating/how to chose the best 25 players/etc etc.

I think that the idea with twda (and Winners from 01.01.2010) is the best we've got but we still looking for other ideas. Any help?

I see now that I miss WarGrim's secound post. So disregard the second comment about Old timers having an advatage.

But I do think that the rankings better portray the top 25 then the TWDA.
