  • Calendar link: www.vekn.net/event-calendar/event/7679
  • Starting time: 18:00
  • Address: Dipoli
  • Entrance fee: none (but Ropecon entry fee required)
  • Number of rounds: 3+F, 2h rounds
  • Organizer: Petri Wessman ()

The Ropecon VTES tournament will also be the official Finnish EC Qualifier tournament (ECQ); this year, the EC itself is in Mannheim, Germany. The top 25% scorers in the tournament will receive EC qualifications (and shirts!), and naturally enough there will be some prizes for the finalists.

The tournament itself is a normal VTES constructed tournament, with three 2-hour rounds followed by a 5-person final round. No deck lists needed beforehand, finalists will be asked to provide deck lists afterwards. The tournament starts at 18:00, and registration closes at 17:30. Please be there on time so we can get the show on the road! You can also pre-register, see below.

Note: like last year, the tournament is at Täffä (TF) (the building next to Dipoli, where board games have been run during previous years). Be prepared for very poor ventilation, sorry guys... The final round will possibly be played at Dipoli, since TF closes for the night (this depends on when the final round actually starts).

No separate entry fee, but Ropecon general entry fee is required.

You can pre-register by emailing me () with your name and VEKN number (if you have one and know it). People who have pre-registered do not need to register on site, it's enough for them to be there by 18:00. I will be adding names to the list of pre-registered players here as I get them, so you can easily make sure your email got through.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask (see email above).

Welcome, see you there!

My friend, I think you are in error.

The current qualifying criteria is a game win, right?
So geta game win during the tournament and you get qualified (as well as getting a funky green qualifier shirt).

(I'm guessing that if, for some bizarre reason, not all finalists have gotten a game win they'd still qualify because they're finalists. But with a tournament of Ropecon's size this is more or less an impossibility.)

That being said, once again I'm planning to hand out humongous pile of promos to all participants even if the pile is likely getting smaller each year.

Also, I'm pretty sure that during the weekened we'll have a traditional VTES programme. taht is, a draft on Saturday and Rapid Thought -tournament on Sunday.

Nope. Gamewinless finalists are not qualified. I am in that case, as I decided to play as organiser in our qualifier. Ralf described this situation as 'both sad and hilarious'. B-)

Does "qualifying" count as a reward or a prize?
If so, all 2nd place players should be equal.

loopholes, loopholes. ;)

We will have a good laugh about this in Mannheim, when I make it to the final of the SoD tournament without a GW and then manage to not win that game too :)
