Fee Stake Helsinki III
Helsinki, Finland
October 15th, 2011
3R+F
13 players
Otso Turunen
Normal constructed tournament; we had to move it from Sunday to Saturday because of a scheduling conflict, which dropped the player count a bit. We still got 13 players, so at least we got a proper tournament going. My pre-announced intent was to give the best-scoring Anarch deck a small extra prize... but turns out we only had two Anarch decks in the tournament, and my Treaty of Laibach anarch deck managed to score the higher of the two (at 2 VPs). I declined to give myself a prize, however
The final round had the following (in seating order):
- Kari Mäkinen, !Brujah rush combat
- Otso Turunen, Settites (see below)
- Mikko Moisander, Daughters Choir with Giovanni tech
- Lauri Salmi, Shamblers (modified from Otto's tournament winning deck)
- Janne Lönnqvist, Otso Saariluoma's Stanislava deck, with added Wider Views
The finals ended up being a fight between Otso's Settite bigcap machine and Lauri's Shamblers, with the Settites finally grabbing a win (quite close to the time limit, if I recall). Otso got 3VP and game win, Lauri got 2VPs.
Otso's winning deck:
Deck Name : Nakhthorheb likes Angry Juice
Author : Otso Turunen
Description : Old news, Mokole Blood is fantastic. Inspired by a deck played by Tuomas Vuokko and many similar decks on the internet. I was rarely blocked or bounced, so without Mokole Bloods I probably would have jammed badly on stealth. Pentex in the opening hand saved me from a rush predator in the finals.

You see, only after the original scheduling and announcement I notized that my mum had her 75th birthday on the original date so the tournament kinda had to be moved...
Seem that my evil date relocation scheme worked though as I got into the finals...
I'll see if I manage to post the pics on Saturday; today I'll be kinda busy with my band's gig at Liberte.

Thanks!
Orava's memory of the finals is a bit hazy
We finished on the 1h 9min mark, and my duel with the Shamblers was a bit one-sided, as Kari's rush deck had just put all of the Giovannis out of action (I think the ready region looked like two three-caps on zero blood and Andrea on 1) before he got ousted.
I think Kari would have won the tournament easily, if he had back-rushed one turn earlier, instead of rushing me forward. Anyway, it was an exciting final, when I saw Kari sit as my predator, I thought I had no chance. Luckily, he had two dominate decks upstream, and with my Pentex on his first minion, he only ever rushed me once.
I made the deck the night before the tournament, thinking back there are a few changes I would make. First of all drop Monastery of Shadows for Archon Investigation, and Form of Corruption (I think it's a pretty bad card, slowing your prey from going forward) for a third temptation or another enticement. Metro Underground could also be good.

Pics from the finals.
Clockwise from left: Otso, Moisku, Lauri, Janne and Kari
Janne's cards. Naturally during the finals Stanislava wasn't in the starting crypt. Fun fun...
Kari's !Brujahs.
Otso's "Nakke" and Moisku's Daughters.
Choirboys Moisku and Lauri in their, erm, Saturday mass.
You might be able to see Lauri's Giovannis and Shamblers from this and the next pic.
Janne still in the game before the Combat Ends ran out against combat from left and right.
