TWD - Grand Prix Iberia event report

Lisbon saw 36 Methuselahs coming together to join the Iberian Grand Prix.

Every player received a set of one t-shirt and the UltraPro playmat, and the finalists got additional boosters and UltraPro deck boxes, with the winner also receiving a full Anthology set pack. The final was played between:
Mariano Carbonero (top seed with 3 GW, Emerald Legionnaires) > Martin Weinmeyer (Stanislava) > Orian Gissler (Enkidu) > Francisco Lopes (Malk Votes) > Francisco Garcia (Fanchon + Orlando Big Caps toolbox)

Since almost everyone was playing big caps the first few turns were spent transfering and building up - the only exception was Orian, who got a few support weenies out to start putting pressure on Francisco.
Legionnaires had a very good start getting out Erlik and Erebus, followed by a Villein and Giant's blood to end up at 26 pool with two full vampires and an Heildeberg Castle in play. The Malk votes deck was quickly disabled by Enkidu, while Francisco Garcia was unable to put any significant pressure on his prey, who kept building up with wraith allies and retainers. Likewise, Martin was not making a dent in Orian's mountain of pool, and so eventually Stanislava was unable to handle to number of minions and Martin was also out. Francisco Garcia was fairly low on pool by then and was the next one to go down. In the heads up between Legionnaires and Enkidu the latter had the most pool and Enkidu himself, capable of quickly dispatching the wraiths, but the FBI Special Affairs Division gave the Legionnaires a bit of an edge, and once he drew into Smiling Jack he was able to sit back and wait for the Enkidu deck to slowly wither away...
