file [Submission] Spiking the vessel (Thanatosis)

This one is less Mortis, more alchemy/poisoning-themed.

Spiking the vessel
Thanatosis
:reaction:
1 blood

:thn: Only usable when a minion of your predator or prey is hunting. Tap this reacting Vampire. The hunt action fails (acting minion is still tapped).
:THN: As above, but untap this reacting Vampire.

Flavour text
"Patience, a well-stocked garden and an unsuspecting mortal is all that is required" - Old Man Driscoll.

Art notes
A Vampire bent over in an alley, vomiting blood.

World of Darkness reference
None.

How does this card address a compelling game need?
First-ever Thanatosis Reaction card! In all seriousness however, extending the 'rootwork' aspect.

Based on Foul Blood , but emphasis on no blood gain (through changing the chemicals in the vessels bloodstream) as opposed to unpreventable damage.

The problem is that Foul Blood, while not being completely unplayable, isn't a great card. Hunting is fairly unpredictable, and quite a few decks have good blood gain strategies that revolve around other options - Voter Captivation, Mind Rape+Heidelberg, Giant's Blood, Taste of Vitae etc. Here, you trade one blood for (on average) one blood - you can't easily predict your opponents will be using extra blood gain on hunting cards.

Purely as a drafting issue, the superior should probably be "As above, but do not tap this reacting vampire."

well, that's a perfect example of wall paper card :)
1. It's hard to cycle as you need your predator or prey to take hunting action.
2. The effect is very weak
3. It's overcosted - 1 blood for such an effect is a lot.
any of above points makes it a really weak card and this one has them all ;)

Compare to foul blood:

Same cost, foul blood deprives the blood and deals a damage(empty vamp goes to torpor). Foul blood is any vampire who hunted (no P/P restriction). And of course, superior to inferior is an identical benefit.

Bloodlines shouldnt get more wallpaper. Bloodlines are supposed to get better versions of existing cards when there is a paralel, not worse versions.

You really need to look at the whole package, not individual cards. The non-Scarce Bloodline discipline should probably come out slightly ahead of a 'normal' discipline, due to the relative difficulty of accessing the discipline - many fewer vampires so less chance to get the 'right' crypt, fewer or weirder Discipline masters etc. But it'd be totally fine for a Bloodlines discipline that's great at combat with a set of clan disciplines that don't allow for much bleed to have a bleed modifier that is okay but not as good as Conditioning.

The issue here is that both cards are just really a bit too weak for serious use.

Thanks for the comments. This is interesting because I generally have an idea and jot it down, then look up similar cards on Secret Library. I then rein it in to a similar level, unless it is not something I see the discipline able to do naturally or as a 'primary' function (e.g. Serpentis bleed seems more expensive and less effective than Presence, Dominate or Dementation bleed).

Jamesatzephyr makes an interesting point I had not considered about BL discipline cards too.

My original thinking (and shows an issue with wording):

Spiking the vessel
Thanatosis
:reaction:

:thn: Only usable when a minion is hunting. That hunt action fails (acting minion is still tapped). Do not tap this reacting vampire.
:THN: Only usable when a Blood Doll or Vessel is used by your predator or prey. This minion burns a blood and taps. The Blood Doll or Vessel is burned (including the blood being transferred).
