Fellow V:TES enthusiasts,

Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the collectible card game Vampire: The Eternal Struggle, the German VEKN representatives Johannes Walch and Andreas Nusser proudly announce the upcoming VTES European Championship 2014.

The event will take place in the city of Mannheim on the weekend October 3rd to October 5th 2014. Mannheim is located about 80km south of Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

The European Championship has been traditionally the largest tournament in a tournament year. The organizers are looking forward to hosting more than 200 players from around the world.

More detailed information on Mannheim: EC 2014, accommodation & travel will be given at the beginning of 2014 on the official V:EKN website:
www.vekn.net.

What is Vampire: The Eternal Struggle?

Vampire: The Eternal Struggle is a multiplayer collectible card game set in the World of Darkness. The game was first published in 1994. The same year Inquest Gamer Magazine picked V:tES as the all-time best multiplayer collectible card game.

In the game two or more players take on the roles of ancient vampires known as Methuselahs. Methuselahs are considered mere legend by younger vampires. Younger vampires think that they pursue their own ends... even as they are being used by one Methuselah to undercut the influence of another. Throughout the world, Methuselahs manipulate their minions to frustrate the designs of the other Methuselahs, just as they have for as long as they can remember. These eternal struggles, sometimes covert and subtle, sometimes open and spectacular, are collectively known as the Jyhad.

Designers' Diary entry for November

Hello!  It's been more than a month since the European Championships in Stockholm, Sweden, and we're finally recovered from all the fun and games.  Many thanks to the organizers for a wonderful event!  At the EC, there were several talks given by various presenters, including Otso Saariluoma, Hugh Angseesing, and Randal Rudstam.  Mike Nudd and I also gave a presentation about our design and development process in the Design Team, including a question and answer session.  We had a lot of fun doing it, and hopefully we can make it a regular thing.  The EC organizers were kind enough to record it, and you can watch it here:

Round One of playtesting of the Independent set concluded shortly after the EC.  We've been reviewing the data, decklists, game reports, and feedback, and we'll have the Round Two material ready in a week or so.  Work continues on the artwork, as well.  We'll be submitting more cards for artwork to the Art Director based on the playtest feedback.

That's all for now!  Have a great weekend!
