Print Program News and Danse Macabre
Fellow V:TES Enthusiasts,
the V:EKN has now been working together with onebookshelf inc. for about a year to bring you a print-on-demand program for V:TES. Despite our best effort and a positive outlook for many months we were finally not able to seal a deal with all involved parties. So for the time being there will be no print-on-demand program. I am very sad about this development, but rest assured all humanly possible has been done to make this work. There might be a different situation in the future, but I am sure there will be no update before middle of 2014.
With this perspective we need to do something to inject this game with fresh material and keep it alive and kicking as much as possible so the V:EKN Inner Circle has decided to release Danse Macabre as a fan-created, free set in PDF format, which will be legal for constructed tournament play. The set is actually complete and we are doing the last steps of post-production so it should be ready for the EC. Pascal will make a more detailed announcement on when the cards will be legal. The Design Team will start previewing the cards early next week.
I also would like to personally ask the community to not show any outrage towards any involved party you might think is responsible for this. It will not help our cause. Feel free to express your polite disappointment, but keep it in line. You will be doing me and the game a huge favor.
Thanks and see you at the EC in Stockholm,
Johannes Walch

V:EKN Constitutional Framework and Chairman/VC Election 2013
Dear players,
Please find attached the Constitutional Framework for the Vampire Elder Kindred Network. It describes the aims of the organization, membership rules, roles of the Inner Circle, their responsiblities, how they get appointed and how Chairman/Vice-Chairman get elected.
The next Chairman/VC election is up during the EC2013 in Stockholm, if you are interested please have a closer look on how to nominate (in the document) and the deadlines.
This document formalizes the de-facto rules and is effective as of now.

Designers' Diary entry for August
Hey, everyone!
Round One of playtest for the second V:EKN set is underway! As mentioned earlier, it's an still-as-yet-unnamed Independent-themed set. It was originally slated to be a 36-card set covering the four classic Independent clans, but we were informed by our Art Director, Ginés Quiñonero, that we will have enough artists to expand the set to include Gangrel.
A total of 74 cards have been sent to the playtesters - 45 crypt cards and 29 library cards. The final size of the set will be less than that, in the 60-70 range depending on how the cards fare in playtest. We intended to start playtest at the beginning of July, but we took another month to develop the Gangrel crypt and library cards. Most of the art descriptions have been submitted to Ginés, and we already have our first two completed pieces!
We've also scheduled a Design Team presentation for the Saturday night of the European Championships in Stockholm, Sweden. There will be artists on hand displaying their artwork for Danse Macabre (and possibly the Independent set), and we'll have previews of that set. We'll also give a presentation about the card design and development process to give you some insight into how a card gets made. After that, we'll have a question and answer session. We'll be sure to record it for those unable to attend.
We hope to see you in Stockholm!
- Ben Peal, V:EKN Design Team Lead
