Well I think it's basic deckbuilding to choose your crypt to match your strategy so that no other crypt does it plain better. That doesn't kill creativity. Yeah I suppose in the HoS case if your deck would be just better with Giovanni, you aren't using the HoS strengths in any way.

We are not in the same boat anyway as you told in another thread you kind of dislike non-focused decks (that was you, wasn't it?). So just trying to make a deck with another crypt, that maybe surprises others, but has basically the same strategy wouldn't fit you. I find it fun to play with vampires not played that often or to do a trick in another way. Else you never play another votedeck than camarilla, because of Parity Shift. Or you only bleed with Dominate. Or you only fight with Potence. Great variety comes with creativity, the will to think in new ways and the courage to play them.
So you are right in saying that finding the best crypt is basic deckbuilding. But you don't have to stop there but can go beyond and find other possibilities so that good players don't foresee what you are doing.
So in our example it is clear, that Giovanni do have the better tricks for a Shambling Hordes-deck (Sudario Refraction, Acquired Ventrue Assets, Dominate). But why playing the same proven crypt all the time? That's not the way America was discouvered ;) .

No, you're thinking that Örebro prince guy.

I mean it has to have some clear advantages over what's standard, too, otherwise you're better off playing standard.

Else you never play another votedeck than camarilla, because of Parity Shift.

Which is why PS is broken OP. But anyway, let's say you make a Tzimisce vote deck. So you can't shift, but what can you do? You have the most easy access to aggravated damage and lot of intercept ability. So maybe you Amaranth? Does that work (I made such a deck, and it did! The only problem was that it had to use a lot of Zillah's but doesn't have a clear way to bloat.).

Or you only bleed with Dominate. Or you only fight with Potence.

Well if I inject some boring serum in my veins and do a S&B deck, not playing dominate has to have some very clear advantage over dominate, which probably isn't going to be damage nor versatility.

Potence isn't the only effective combat discipline anyway... But let's say you decide to make a Quietus combat deck. What does Quietus do that none do better? And is that something worth using?

Great variety comes with creativity, the will to think in new ways and the courage to play them.

Of course you can do the Harbringer SH deck, but you have to consider why, and trickery isn't the answer, that might work for maybe one game. In this deck, we have !Brujah, who have CEL POT PRE but not uniquely to them, also some levels of obt but again not uniquely to them, what the Brujah AT have over the Brujah is that they are Sabbat, have Dogs of War which is pretty unique, ability to use action modifier/reaction voting cards in Unexpected Coalition and Scalpel Tongue so perhaps you could have some unique vote defense, and of course a selection of pretty violent vampires such as Jacko, Richter...

They also have Blood Brother Ambush but that's p. crap.

I'd like this deck much more if it had, say, some DoW's, Preternatural Strengths and IG's.
