file Ventrue Group 5-6 Best Strategy

Thank you, everybody who is taking part in this discussion! I am really grateful that even now when no real games and almost no VTES streams are available, the community can still help each other and teach newcomers like me.

As I see it, your general consensus is that Ventrue ousting power depends on their ability to beat blocks. We can go to the face with Weighted Sticks, or we can deny blocks with Seductions. But what about multiacting? Is it a powerful tool against blockers? After all, we can overload blockers with too many actions to handle. Is this approach realistic?

Another question - is there a better alternative to Sticks? Why not Magnums with their maneuvers, or some other better weapons?

And the most important point for me - how would you rate the new Group 6 Ventrue crypt cards for various archetypes? I believe that we will all benefit from a chart here. Like, "Best Vampires for Grinder", "Best Vampires for Vote-Bleed", etc. Perhaps, we can even discuss good cards from other clans to put into Ventrue decks )

Thank you!

The power of Sticks is that you do not need to waste an action to fetch them. Or waste cardslots for a pile of Concealed Weapons (in addition to a pile of Magnums).

Also, if the opponent has maneuvers and Immortal Grapple then your move to long with Magnum did nothing. Granted, the sticks won't do anything either but at least you can still punch for one.

And worrying about damage shouldn't be problem for Fortitudous Stickmen, so no need to move to long.

The Magnum version wouldn't be the pits either so don't be afraid to try it out.

Or perhaps go nuts with the guns and choose Assault Rifles. Preferably equipped with with Alastors. Choose plenty of Princes and on support Justicar/IC member and go nut with 2nd Traditions too. Dakka dakka dakka!

Multiacting is not a weapon against blocking as such. It is simply a strong, aggressive weapon for ousting. If your vampire gets blocked and has its head torn off, it doesn't really matter how many actions you had queued..

Seduction is an excellent card though. Its not quite enough on its own, since you can only play one seduction per action (and doesnt work on allies), but it gets you surprisingly far. Often times walls have one "main" blocker and some lesser ones. Almost any ventrue deck could benefit having 2-4 seductions in it. At the worst, it can be cycled easily.

Another question - is there a better alternative to Sticks? Why not Magnums with their maneuvers, or some other better weapons?

As Lönkka pointed out, stick is only one card. Concealed weapon+magnum is two cards, which have to be in hand at the same time. Also magnum costs pool whereas stick is free.

Theres no clear alternative, but there are numerous ways to build decks. Stealth tends to go well with political actions though.

The short answer is yes. The long answer as others have pointed out is that getting blocked can lead to deleterious effects for your vampires. The Law Firms approach was exactly this: overwhelm your prey with actions. It has been a successful archetype since day one. There are advantages and disadvantages to grinding instead.

You need to determine what the local meta will tolerate and what you can be successful with. A deck that might run over your local game could get easily crushed in mine and vice versa.

VtES is about picking strategies that work in the meta, for you. It's more important to tune the deck to you than in other games because of the multiplayer aspect.

So, try both variants and see how each works for you, how the meta handles them and how they handle the meta.

Another big difference between grinder and classic lawfirm (with multi action) is the blood management.

While grinder tends to limit the cost in blood when grinding (with prevent), lawfirm will need a lot of bloods when multi acting (freak drive and majesty both cost 1 blood).

Hey,

I'm late to the party but here is my old VLF deck.

It should be updated because Pentex and Parity Shift are weaker now, and the proportions should be adjusted according to your personal preferences.

One of my favourite decks, and the one I brought for my first game after an 8-yrs torpor (got GW3 in that game BTW).

Of course that kind of deck will cripple the right tables but suffer against combat and intercept. Any ally deck with The Unmasking near you and you're toast too.

The deck is extremely strong in a bleed meta.
