Hello, everyone,
After 30 years of playing combat decks, I still find myself wondering about the right deck size.
I’ve recently had discussions with a friend who was surprised to see so many people playing with 90 cards (myself included) when, objectively speaking, you rarely run out of cards in VTES.
So, I’d like to hear the opinions of other players, especially combat experts: in your view, is it worth it—while maintaining the same proportions—to reduce a 90-card deck to 75, for example?
Thanks for your help

Try as much as you can to hit 80(82-83), shuld make it a bit more interesting.
Do note that there are some combinations that can't be lower than 90.

I always try to fit my decks in 80 cards, any archtype but i really are not much of a combat guy, my decks are more toolbox type, combat decks cycle much cards, from all the types of deck maybe was the most reasonable to have 90

Until about 5-10 years ago, most serious tournament players aimed for as small decks as possible withodut risking to run out of cards, in order to have it easy to draw what they want. That meant decks often around 72 cards or less. But now there seems to be a trend of 90 card decks, instead doubling up on key cards. The only reasonable explanation is the fear of running out of cards. Maybe they cycle more intense these days?

For some builds, key cards might have became more... "key", and it's better to have 2-3 copies in 90-sized deck than 1-2 copies in 70-sized one.
As mentioned, typical combat cycles cards fast, so unless you're using Ashurs tech, 90 is all good IMO.
