Introducing the Nations' Cup:
On Friday 26 October 2012 a new type of tournament will be organized as the Side Event of the Last Chance Qualifier of the VTES EC 2012.
It is called "The Nations' Cup".
The primary goal is to organize a prestigious constructed tournament (like Legendary Vampire) for the Friday of VTES EC 2012 Budapest.
Rules for The Nations' Cup:
Each country may register 3 (exactly 3) players. The players must prove their nationality if the organizers ask for it.
(It is to each country's playgroup to agree in those 3 players. If a country cannot agree and for example 4 players are registering from a country then that country is not allowed to play. "Monsters we are.")
Each country may register 1 team as a maximum.
The organizers guarantee that there will be no table with 2 (or even 3) players of the same country.
(So the players will not sit totally randomized and there is no guarantee for optimized seating, however we will make the seating as optimized as possible under the additional condition.)
After the 3 preliminary rounds the GWs/VPs/Tps will be summarized by countries and this way the current "country standings" will be determined.
The top 5 countries of the "country standings" will play in the final.
Each finalist country will delegate 1 player to the final (out of the 3 team members). The delegate will be chosen by his/her team secretly.
The delegate will play his/her own deck in the final.
The winner's team of the final will win the "Nations' Cup of EC 2012 Budapest" (so a team is the winner not a single person).
Sanctioning of the Nations' Cup:
The tournament will be sanctioned and rated as a constructed tournament with the following exception:
When rating, the number of players will be the number of teams and each player of a team will get the same (best) rating.
(As of 2nd of September 2012, 16 nations have 3 or more pre-registered players, according to vtes2012.com.)
These rules have been approved by the V:EKN.
I wish you a great competition!
Milan Horvath, VTES EC 2012 Event Director
p.s.: There is no official script for selecting a country's delegates for the Nations' Cup. We advise the National Coordinators to coordinate the process.
p.s.: although the registration deadline for this event is friday 26 october 2012 10:00 AM, it would be a nice gesture of the participant countries if they give a brief sign of they expectable attendance to this event by email - to help the organizers and the opponent countries to prepare for the event. Please email to with the subject "Nations' Cup". Thank you.
