- booking requires sending printed, and scanned details of credit card info (including security code) to the hotel

I don't see the problem here as it's credit card.
Anyway, I've already taken the risk, so whoever shares my room doesn't have the hassle with the hotel ;-)

Is it possible to know how late the EC 2nd day (18/08) could finish ?

It is difficult to book a train ticket without knowing when to start.
There is no schedule at all on the site.
