Since Covid-19 is still a thing I kindly ask every player to do self-test the day before the tournament.
In addition, I would like to appeal on everyone's feeling of responsibility to stay home if they did not feel well on the date of the event.

So is flu. Would you want me to test for that too?
This being the only tournament I can remember in months/years where someone asks for this should tell you something IMHO

I cannot see a flaw in my request. At least, both this year's NAC and Belgian Nationals saw players getting Covid-19 after the event. I don't force players to do self-tests, I ask them to do so. And if there were a self-test for the flu, I would be intrigued to ask for that as well. Nobody wants to get ill as a result of visiting a precious-time event like a VTES tournament.

Well, you do what you do, obviously.
Not that I would want to give you any additional ideas but tests on Influenza A/B and RSV are definitely existing.

Given that a significant portion of the NAC player base came down with COVID and several experienced fairly severe effects, I applaud this request.

Broad public exposure when you KNOW you're ill is (even if it isn't COVID) is impolite at best and wearing a mask if you feel not-normal wouldn't be much of an ask. Personally, I would gladly remain distanced from even with a positive COVID test regardless of sunken monetary costs - but that's my choice of course.
