Ok. This deck is hysterical. It makes me inordinately happy that it won a qualifier. Go Adam!

Just finished writing up a description of the finals for my blog (vteswall.blogspot.com/) but I figured I'd put it here as well!

Glad you guys like the deck!

In a way it game down to a coin flip... (although my play did have some to do with it)

But in general, the game was a mess!

My friend Sonam had exact same score as me, so it was a coin flip who would be top seed. I won the flip, so here was the seating.

Adam Hulse -> Dave Zopf -> Jason Wolfson -> Matt Morgan -> Sonam Adinolf

Adam: Ghoul ally deck
Dave: Group 4 Kiasyd
Jason: Group 4 Kiasyd!
Matt: Nephandi ally
Sonam: Giovanni Bruise-bleed (unique cold aura - thrown sewer lid combo!)

If Sonam won the flip, we (adam and sonam) would have switched seats. I chose to be Sonam's prey because I figured the Asanbonsam Ghoul ability was a perfect counter to cold aura (ghoul ability happens first).

Dave and Jason had a HUGE contestion game which my prey Dave was at the losing end. Great for me except that I'm a slow deck.

So game started! Dave sat around with transfers while Jason brought out guys. They contested one minion. Funny enough, not only if Dave and Jason were switched (Dave would be winning the contesting war), but Dave did not have much in the way of combat while Jason did. So Jason bled into Matt, and while some bleeds got though or were bounced, some combat happened, but did not turn out too well for Matt, due to a combination of Earth Swords and Entombment (Dave just had S: CE).

So Jason and Matt kicked the crap out of each other while I built up and duked it out a little with Sonam. Smiling jack hit the table, made people lose some blood. I allowed it to burn so that Matt could live (but sonam had to take the action). This was key.

Sonam only had one deflector up after that action a huge bleed came around the table and Matt bounced to Sonam. Sonam played a deflection, which Matt DI! This put Sonam at 1 pool which promptly got him ousted due to a Mirror walk bleed by Matt.

Jason actually died after that, with too much attrition with Matt and my Smiling Jack. So now its my prey with a VP, Matt with a VP, but me with top seed. In round 3 I had a lot of trouble with Matt's Netphandi. So I made a deal with Dave that I would go very slow on him and let him kill matt. He would get 2Vp and then when I kill him I would have 2Vp with top seed, winning the tourney. If it would get close to time then the deal would have to change of course but I was still following the Play to Win rule. And it was the safest way.

My round games were much more about my play, especially with key Frontal Assaults and Ghouls running around and hitting things. This one I really just played the table and played tight.

That's the third time that the cold aura deck has made the finals in Rhode Island. I'm very happy with the deck.
