I'm not sure if any of L.A. new about this tournament or some of us would have gone up. No way some silly animalism deck would've won ;)

Heh, well it was a hard-fought victory. I played in all 5-player tables and each of them timed out. In games one and two I got 1.5 vps and 2.5 in the Final. I faced off against Lev's Unnamed Enkil Cog deck. We traded blows a lot and I lost two vampires (scourge and diablarie). I barely ousted him before time and got my predator to agree to a time-out to prevent my prey from winning.

Thanks for the offer to come up. We generally like to make it worth your while with 2+ tournaments and a place to crash for such a long trip. This was Ian Thompson's first time organizing a tournament. He did very well and I think it will only get better as he starts to figure out when/where to hold these things.

Eudemonia did screw us over by not responding to Ian's request to put the event on their calendar (and guarantee space). When we stopped by their store looking for a 10th player (Games of Berkeley, where we played, is only about 2 blocks away), they were almost completely empty. Maybe one day they will get their shit together. Had they not done that, I think we would have had 10 or maybe a little more.

We will let you know when we run big tournaments, don't worry ;) I'll keep pushing the LA tournaments. I think the next one is right before finals, but I'll still consider it. I noticed that there were 10 players in your tournaments over President's Day weekend and I pointed it out to the players in attendance. It really does matter if we go. Unlike events further away (i.e. Origins), LA is driveable and therefore much less costly.

Ian Lee was saying that the Labor Day weekend conventions in the Bay Area are not that great, so maybe we can round up a posse to drive down to Strategicon. I'll be starting my externship in Fall, so hopefully I can make time for that.

Thanks for checking in.

Is there no L.A. player on Facebook that reads the Berkeley VTES group? They are incredibly active. Y'all should be paying attention. ;)
