Marcin Szybkowski's Tournament Winning Deck with 5 VPs in the Finals.

www.vekn.net/event-calendar/event/7320

Deck Name : Guedado Ghouls
Author : Marcin "Dude" Szybkowski
Description : This deck is designed to bring out War Ghouls at extra speed - cutting the deck size to 50 and using D'habi revenants does the trick nicely, plus the revenants make perfect "meat" for corrupt constructs later on. Ideally you should have 3-4 minions on turn 3, which is not uncommon. Guedado is a true star here, giving you access to the Powerbase, Forgotten Labyrinths and of course the Strange day, which literally saved the day many times.
Some credit goes to Szewski for his advices before playing my 1st tournament with this deck. Thanks mate.

Using Powerbase: Tshwane in this deck is pure genius. Thumbs up!

Strong deck, congratulations.

Entrancements weren't a problem? Probably it is only my playgroup but playing that strong allies without at least a bit intercept and DI is suicide. OTOH you play two Unmasking plus DI2, maybe that is enough if you draw it early enough.

Tshwane plus Charisma = Ghouls for 1 pool. Maybe for the Failsafe.

Thanks.

Entrancements were indeed a problem, but usually only in the final round (I've been in 5 finals with this deck this year, every time with the minimum of 2 GW). There was always some big cap vote that sneakend into the finals, sometimes I had 2-3 presence decks against me (that's pretty much game over). There are ways to manage this (tap and burn ghouls to prevent stealing - you'd be surprised how many people forget about this - or recruiting a corrupt construction after the war ghould gets stolen), but in all honesty, my idea was simply to torporize anyone who could steal my minion, as soon as possible. I think I timed out with this deck only once (which actually gave me a GW anyway), in most cases the games were very short.
With 2-3 ghouls on the table by the time they bring out first vampires you really have a head start and they usually don't have enough S:CE to stop you. If they do...well, tough luck :) In the end it is all about speed and numbers, it is a race with this deck (sort of).

As for Charisma + Powerbase, I did try it in the initial version of the deck and although the concept looks lovely it didn't really work that well. Note that you can tap Powerbase for pretty much everything you play that costs you pool, while with Charisma you are bound to a specific minion - in many cases Charisma was simply wasted due to card flow (ex. dude with Charisma goes for a retainer, I draw a WG, I recruit it with another vamp immediately). On the other hand, Failsafe saved my butt many times, you usually use it during late game, this essentially means a free warghoul.
