Positively surprising number of people gathered to enjoy some games of VTES, even on a short notice. Four player tables didn't slow the pace at all and games were as intense as ever.

The finals was definitely one of the tightest of our games in a while, keeping everyone at the edge of their seats until the very last minutes of the game. Congratulations to Peetu for winning and reaching the Hall of Fame!

Finals Seating:
Aapo Järvelin (Pre Tzimisce Vote/toolbox) --> Emma Takkunen (Mithras Bleed) --> Noora Hirvonen (Weenie Auspex) --> Petrus Makkonen (Arika + Watenda Alastor) --> Simo Tiippana (Big Cap Dom/Obf bleed + tricks)

Winners Deck List:

Deck Name: Watenda Alastor
Author: Petrus Makkonen
Description: It's a control deck, where Maris and Watenda play key roles. Aim for a three-way, as control does, with your preferred frenemies. Arika is there for extra votes, end-game bleed and to punish Gangrel Barons for their locations. Worth it.

ECTU should be Carlton, mainly for contest. Flamethrower is superior in the Girls matchup - diablerize them after the rush instead of trying to grind them out with Assault Rifle. Adjust the vote-push to your liking and local meta.

Some words from the winner:

"It was a rollercoaster of a tournament. With tables of four, it's always intense to try to even play your game - you're enemies with the whole table from turn one. I always prefer tables of 5. Despite everyone playing 4-player tables with 12 attendees, I can't say the games were bad by any stretch. Great fun, great vtes and great moments were had! Thank you everyone for being there.

First game basically ended by the sixth action. My crosstable had three Anarch Revolts and Smiling Jack ticking by the time I had my first vampire out. With no Watenda in the opener, I had no chance to go anarch. Luckily my prey got her vampires torporized while blocking my cross table's go-anarch actions, so they were hit by their own Revolts as well - unlucky for me, I was preyd by Mithras. In a game where everyone has pool exactly for one vampire, it was Mithras who denied everyone of their blocks and duly swept the table. Some games you can't really even.

Second game saw me preying on Gangrel Barons, Victoria's Secrets across from me, and a duly aggressive Lasombra to me right. I barely survived the Dominate, and proceeded to delete a Lasombra a turn with Watenda. Gangrel spent some resources to rescuing the Lasombra, which opened up an ousting turn with a few well-drawn Banishments. I was pretty close to being ousted by Victoria's Revolts (and we just had a discussion that no one plays them anymore...), but Watenda kept it all in check and a Domain Challenge netted me with a GW on a very crucial turn.

I was probably supposed to have an easy time in my third game, with a Clown Car deck to my left, and weenie dementation to my right. Cross table I saw a Lambach voter-wall, and we quickly decided on a game plan and followed it to the letter - until they decided to slow down my ousting by letting Con Boons pass. As it happens, after a few of those, they got ridof my Dragonbound with Uncoiling and it was reasonable to think I'll actually never get points from this, despite not having a proper predator (Watenda took care of the weenies). With a lucky ousting turn I got into a duel, but had absolutely horrible draws, not drawing into any stealth, masters or bloat to get my Watenda back up from torpor (accidents happen - this is where we see my ECTU should really be a Carlton instead), Lambach simply ground me down. This saw him rise to first seed with 2 GW instead of me. Good game though!

The final was a swirl of tiredness really. Me and Emma's Mithras sat down first, followed be Noora who had vehemently decided to deny me my Alastor; Simo sat down in front of me with his bleeder and Aapo, top seed, cross table from me, hoping to have me help out with Simo's bleeds.

The plan was good, and I pushed my Alastor past Noora's Auspex, and Aapo decided to give me my gun. The problem was that he had just got 8 extra pool, had decent defenses set up and had the votes with three vampires. I knew I couldn't let four people stand by the 60 minute mark, and there were a lot of options, none much better than others - who to team up with? I decided, out of all the scenarios, to try and see myself in the three-way with Simo's bleeders and Mithras. I shot Victoria's horde down some (not enough - I didn't sadly go all-in with the back-oust plan) to give Mithras room for an oust, and helped Simo take Aapo out (a super-heavy risk, which duly divided opinions, for which I don't blame them). Mithras failed with their oust though, and Simo went into the three-way with us with 2 points, a bucket load of pool and highest seed.

The rest came down a few super scary bleeds from Simo that we bounced up and down and Noora was undecided on how much I deserved to be ousted. On one hand she had not enough time to grind through Simo alone. On the other, if I had an oust, she couldn't win the game. I had to keep Noora alive to have a chance of winning due to the VP spread. It was such a grind, and as dust settled, at one point of the game Watenda was the only vampire in the ready region, basking in the results of wanton violence he was the center of. With just a few minutes left on the clock I drew into my bleed modifiers and ousted the minionless Simo, and took Noora out on the same turn.

Thank you, Noora, for not influencing yourself out in a situation where it was practically impossible to win. I guess it would've been technically legal, and if you had self-ousted and handed the game to Simo, I wouldn't have held it against you. It was a rough match for everyone with rough choices, not all of them very friendly.

Lovely games with lovely people! <3"

Thank you Peetu for taking the time to write the report!
