Caitiff Anarch Victoria Longwood who tagged the alley wall of the Blue Velvet Club with graffiti to help other Anarchs find the location. Though seized by Damien, the Sheriff, she explained she tagged the club because the use of internet was outright banned by the Camarilla. Officers of the court have argued back and forth for months over whether Longwood should be punished for damaging Elysium, or rewarded (…). Currently, Longwood exists staked and in torpor somewhere in the city, while the court still debates her fate. 11th. Celerity 3 Potence 4 Presence 3 Protean 3 (source chicago v5)

Some cool ideas here. Personally I'd love to see some new Caitiff cards.

I'll just quickly post some comments from the top of my head. Cool that you've put the effort to create these suggestions.

Iqbal Blind.
G6. Caitiff. Independant.
You gain 1 pool everytime Iqbal successfully makes an action to put a vampire in play and 1 pool everytime a location is burned. Infernal.
cel dom obt.
Capacity : 3

Intriguing. :D Infernal is pretty heavy drawback for a vampire without great disciplines. Keeping the location ability doesn't require one to pay the tax, though... or for Iqbal even to be ready, for that matter. The location thing is definitely interesting! Probably would make sense to have a superior discipline.

Nerissa Blackwater
G5. Caitiff. Independant.
Bahari. Nerissa has +1 vote for each ready bahari. During your unlock, choose a younger non bahari vampire, this vampire becomes bahari and gain 1 blood. +1 bleed. +1 stealth. AUS CEL FOR PRE THA dom
Capacity : 11

I like the use of Bahari here, and this is an interesting design. In a way it would be nice for Caitiff to have their own 11-cap - but then again, I think it mostly feels very wrong. Caitiff are supposed to be the ones cast out, having to do without status, without clan support - and without 11 caps. :) So somehow this vampire would feel more at home as a member of some clan. (Like Elimelech, who has no clan in the lore, but was assigned one in VtES.)

Source chicago v5

This is cool and interesting, but needs to be a bit worse, I think.

Contrast with the Hungry Coyote, which costs 2 pool and works for Sabbat vampires. This is the same effect for the Caitiff for free, plus the ability to mess someone else's hunt, and the option to unlock a vampire.

The Hungry Coyote is not very powerful, but good enough to see some play. Admittedly, Sabbat is probably better requirement than Caitiff, which I guess justifies either the unlock or the -1 hunt option, or maybe even both, but not them both and no cost on top.

I was also thinking making it usable only on announce and make the unlock option only work on a successful action, but that would probably make it too weak since it would be too easy to make it useless by stopping the first hunt with a random intercept from Telepathic Misdirection or something. So, I don't know...How about this?

Red n°5 :
Master. Unique location. 1 pool. Requires Caitiff.
Caitiff have +1 hunt. After a Caitiff you control successfully hunts, lock Red n°5 and burn a blood off that Caitiff to unlock them. Lock to give +1 or -1 hunt to a hunting non-Caitiff vampire.

This feels less satisfying, but maybe more balanced? Other people's Caitiff also profit and no vampire has "I can hunt for 2 with an unlock once every turn" because the unlock costs a blood.

I like it. Simple, usable in some decks (mostly weenie horde, I guess), not over the top.

Fledgling :

Put this card in play. It becomes a 1-capacity (non-unique) caitiff vampire of the same sect as the acting vampire and must hunt this turn. You can search your library (shuffle afterward), hand and/or ash heap for a Discipline master card and put it on this new vampire.

This idea I don't actually like too much. There aren't many clan-specific breeding cards in the first place, and I don't think the Caitiff should get one (and they kind of already have theirs in the Thin-blooded Seer already).

In any case, this is far too powerful. As it is worded now, one Fledgling can create another Fledgling, and that spells trouble. I think a library of 90 Fledglings would be a viable (even if easily improved) deck already. Contrast with Tumnimos, which costs 2 blood and requires 5 cap or more.

I worry if this would be abusable to build an army of dom obf weenies or something. But then again, you need to a) have in your crypt Caitiffs that lack a discipline you want b) have these actions cluttering your deck c) have master: discipline cards cluttering your deck - so maybe it's fine. :)

Btw, this would be one cool turbo enabler :)

No past :

choose any number of cards in your ash heap. Shuffle the chosen library cards into your library and the chosen crypt cards into your crypt.

This looks abusable. Compare with Ashur Tablets. It's a bit clunky comparison, since this is a "clan" card and doesn't generate pool, but still.

Ashur Tablets takes 3 MPAs to fire, is removed from the game so you can't keep recycling the recycler itself into your deck, only gives you 13 cards, and other people may compete with you in playing the Tablets. Despite all these drawbacks, it's still a card that makes decks work.

Cool. Not very strong because the limitation on which actions it can be used on, but probably good enough to play in a deck with rushes and at least the Heart and Ivory Bow or something.

_______________________
Secret caitiff :
requires caitiff. action +1 stealth action. Cost X blood.
(D) Target vampire with less than X blood becomes caitiff or take control of a caitiff with less than X bloods.
Source : Core book v5

Ok, so this would introduce a new "steal you vampires" deck. I'm not sure what to think - interesting, for sure :)

Requiring two actions is nice, and gives the target fair warning as long as we add a "only one can be played each turn" to the text. Or at the very least "only one can be played on the same vampire each turn".

Making the cost capacity rather than blood would make the card less disruptive, since you'd need to at least play really big Caitiff to steal vampires - compare with Chameleon (which admittedly has not made much of an impact). As it is worded now, if there's a couple of Caitiff sitting on the table, anyone Minion Tapping their Arika would be risking them just being stolen with two actions after passing the turn.

I would take the card in another direction, and not have it steal minions. Making vampires into Caitiff is often already very bad them (lots of titles vanish, and no more access to the clan based cards in their deck), so maybe the steal ability could even simply be dropped? Or then we can think of some other second effect that is not quite as upsetting (to both game state and players). I'd also would like give the victim the ability to burn the card and go back to their own clan.

Legend of the Stoneman :
+1 stealth action. requires caitiff.
Put this card on this vampire and unlock him. This caitiff can burn this card to gain prevent 1 damage or to press to end combat.

Nice flavoury card. Good enough to play some in some decks. Abusable? I'm thinking... Not quite? Someone would prove me wrong :)

_______________________
The unbound :
requires caitiff. +1 stealth action.
Draw a crypt card and reveal it, if it is a younger vampire, unlock the acting minion.
Source : Anarch book v5

I think this would be quite good even without the unlock ability.

Oh, I (obviously?) meant to word the unlock effect to be optional in my suggestion for the Red n°5:

Red n°5 :
Master. Unique location. 1 pool. Requires Caitiff.
Caitiff have +1 hunt. After a Caitiff you control successfully hunts, you may lock Red n°5 and burn a blood off that Caitiff to unlock them. Lock to give +1 or -1 hunt to a hunting non-Caitiff vampire.

Hello Beatrice !!

Thank you for all your feedbacks !!

a few quick answers:

- Iqbal disciplines were based on his "disciples" disciplines according to Cult of the dead god books.. but you are right, he should have one or more superior discipline (and maybe +1 cap then ? what discipline he should have in addition ?). I have put Obtenetration but in the book, the disciples have Oblivion. However we dont know yet how oblivion is going to be translated into vtes.

- Nerissa: in fact even in WoD, there was at least one 4th generation caitiff (described in cairo by night but i dont remember his name)... V5 background gives several clue that some very ancient vampire are in fact caitiff (one caitiff is even arguing that Caine himself was a caitiff as were the 2nd gen and that clans arose only from the 3rd generation).. and Nerissa is described in the Caitiff section of Chicago by night as a 4th generation vampire (even if it is left to the ST to do something else of her: Drowned, spirit...) with a possible incoming fight with Helena and responsible for primogen Nosferatu Khalid disappearance. I could down her a bit to 10 cap to mimick a bit Helena / Menele power but then i guess that i would also need to tune down her disciplines then.

- red n°5: you are right. it should cost pools. 1 maybe as the location has a drawback (corrected in initial post).
i didn t wanted to make it another hungry coyote specially as the red n°5 is managed by a caitiff selecting who and when people enter. I saw it closer to the inbase frankfurt discothek but cheaper as "inbase" is way too much expensive for its effect and as it has a drawback.

- Fledgling was based on the lore as all the books from 1st ed to latest 5th ed (corebook + anarch) were speaking about waves of caitiff embraces. I almost copied pasted the children of revolution text but maybe these "simili" embrace should be sterile to avoid cap 1 creating cap 1 (correction made in initial post).
About the cost: rivers of Duat and children of revolution have a cost of 1: i let it as it is to give to the ccg the ability to cap 1 caitiff to create vampires.
you are right though, they should not get their discipline upon creation (correction made).
I am not sure that it would create much issues as:
*solution cards as "scourge of the enochean" or "anarchist uprising" are deadly to swarm decks... at worse, it could make them worth to add again.
*most caitiff do not have access to stealth or would necessitate some set up to do so (creepshow casino, skill obf + stealth modifier...).
*Caitiff do not benefit or have a card similar to "ravnos carnival" and even the "red n°5"
*I change "must hunt this turn" to "locked" cause i tried to imagine a worst case scenario:
- t1: information highway + 5th seat, i influenced out 4 caitiff cap 1.
- t2: (my predator potentially has " at best" a cap8 baron or a prince... or not; my prey has had 5 transfers so at best a mid cap or several weenies). 4 fledling actions. No direct. No block. the 4 fledglings come into play locked go to hunt. no block. influence to draw crypt. transfer to a 5th 1 cap caitiff
- t3: (predator totalizes at least 12 transfer without accelerator... prey 9 so possibly baron / prince), total minions 9, 8 need to go hunt. 1 can take actions (bleed/ set up...)
- from t4: it is harder to take hypothesis as they are too many parameters (bleed increaser as computer hacking for the caitiff, capacity of multi block from prey or predator)
=> it would need comparison with a "perfectly working" Ravnos carnival or "eldest are kholo" (or palla grande / libertine bal but their blood set up is a bit different)

- no common traits: thank you : )

- No past: I wanted a card with an effect not yet seen (or less seen) in other clans. the closest clanless would be indeed ashur tablets... but as you mentioned AT brings pool and one card back in hand... in comparison, No past is usable directly. I changed a bit the text to avoid too many recursion.

- secret caitiff I am second thinking too about this card:
* effect to modify clans has a lot of impacts but not many direct "damaging" effects if there is no strategy behind + require to have some attrition or late game to be used so almost useless in early game: remove titles linked to clan (ex ventrue inner circle), making target for cards impacting caitiffs ("tradition upheld", "of noble blood", "revelation of the sire"), making a bit useless cards affecting a specific clan (ex: backways for gangrel, palla grande for toreador anti tribe...), limiting tactics involving a specific clan (ex: eldest are kholo, consanguineous boon, ... ), enabling cards affecting vampires of the same clan (ex: "clan loyalty", "conflict of interest",...)...
* effect to steal is much more damaging indeed. specially in late game. I modifier to X/2 for the capacity of the affected vampire.
* hypothesis of play with Nerissa (with new text): cap 11, full blood. can modify the clan of a vampire with less than 11 blood by spending Y+1 blood where is the amount of blood of the amount... freak drive... attempt to steal : must pay Yx2 to take control
=> min: target with no blood; cost 1 to change, freak drive, cost 0 to take control; total 3 cards (+action modifiers / combat cards if any...), total 1 blood
=> max: target with 3 bloods; cost 4 to change, freak drive, action to steal 8 bloods, nerrisa would need some refill between the two (ex: voter cap ? giant blood, multiple hunt +1+freak drive...)

- legend of the stoneman yes, just in doubt, i limit it to one per vampire

- The Unbound I think that it is a powerful card indeed. Maybe you are right and the conditional unlock is maybe a bit too powerful. Many caitiff deck are struggling with masters as they often need to rely on "effective management" to be able to work. This card was an attempt to create an alternative (and thus to create place for more master cards in caitiff decks).

- Unwanted child: Thank you very much, I really like this one as well : D
I wonder however if i should limit it to once per turn as it may be a bit too powerful in early game.

- mata hari: i didn t checked but mata hari is always an issue to design clan cards, do you see any issue with one of this card she could use ?

Thank you for all your feedback ! I hope that we will get some caitiff cards one day ...
(and some Bahari and independant cards too ! )

Hello!

I'm dropping my two cents here, but really appreciate the effort that you've put into these cards.

Capacity : 4

This guy is stupid strong. I'd argue he would be at least a complementary ousting option. The disciplines are pretty great, but honestly it could be almost whatever; his ability, by itself would validate his inclusion in almost any decks that remotely qualify. This is a vamp that tilts the whole table towards it's controller (despite being also affected by it). This is a Smiling Jack-like situation.

 Ivan Kuthka.
G6. Caitiff. Camarilla.
Primogen. After Ivan enters play during your influence phase, you can move up to 2 discipline master cards from your ash and/or hand to Ivan.
Capacity 2

The other crypt that really caught my eye. Absolute flexibility, with a now-usable title on a 2 cap? That's probably too good, in my opinion, but at least you cannot just dig disciplines ouf of the deck. Could the Camarilla use any strenghtening? Surely, but giving them a 'Joker' in that grouping is questionable. I like the idea, but the capacity should be a bit higher, or getting some noticable drawback, because he's definitely pushing the balance.

Lilia Hawkins « Leah » 13th Celerity 2, Potence 1, Protean 1 (source cult of the dead gods)
 Lilia Hawkins « Leah ».
G6. Caitiff. Independant.
-1 strength in combat with allies and younger vampires.

Capacity : 3

This is a pretty great vampire, with an honestly minor drawback. The spread is great, would see heavy play, for sure.

Cool stuff.

Not a fan of adding recursion cards to the game so No Past is not a favourite of mine.

Perhaps "Only one No Past can be played during a game" would make it sufficiently less overpowered? But still strong enough...
