The South American Championship is the same weekend as the European Championship.
It's fairly easy to get estimates for costs to Poland, ~$900 flight from Atlanta, going thru either Paris or Amsterdam. Hotel costs are known.
It's a challenge to get estimates for costs to Brazil, the listed location (Juiz de Fora) doesn't match up with an international airport, so costs for a flight to Rio de Janeiro {1,744.10} and additional travel expenses are unknown.
Here's a challenge to the organizers of both events:
Woo me!
Let me know here why I should attend your event, instead of the opposing one!
Include things that you think might be obvious to someone from your region, like expected weather conditions, players already committed to attending, etc.!

Ain't no organizer of either, but
The weather in Brazil will most likely be better than in Poland
Then again, I'm 100% sure you'll meet more Finns at EC.
Might be a pro, might be a con...

Poland:
Famous Vodka
Famous Beer
Famous Girls
Famous Finnish Politycs
Famous Players from whole Europe
Famous Items (one is designed almost special for You
)
Famous Szewski (just kidding
)
Famous Weather (one day cold and ugly and next day warm and hot)
Famous Warsaw City
...
We have already almost 115 Players (both registered at EC and hotel)
We have nice plan for the EC
We want to do the best tournament in the history
We have great prizes
We have some great stuff to buy
We want You !

Best regards
Szewski

Szewski,
Thank you for putting out the effort. A few questions/comments based on your reply.
Playing?
Thanks again for putting forth the effort.

Could be nice, can drink anywhere though.Poland:
Famous Vodka
Famous Beer
At the event?Famous Girls
Playing?
Valued beyond price.Famous Finnish Politycs
Famous Players from whole Europe
This is of interest to me.Famous Items (one is designed almost special for You
)
Famous Szewski (just kidding)
This is a problem.Famous Weather (one day cold and ugly and next day warm and hot)
Coupled with November weather, this holds little appeal. Holding events when weather is good is much more likely to gain my attendance.Famous Warsaw City
This is probably what will make the decision for me.We have already almost 115 Players (both registered at EC and hotel)
Thanks again for putting forth the effort.

Let me rephrase then.
Alcohol is no reason for me to spend 12 hours each way cramped in an airplane.
