Of course you are right in saying that every player has the same limits. But of what use is it if everybody gets an unsatisfying deck?

I learned the opposite. If you have less access to wakes and can't bloat enough, you have to play extremely cautious. That means you actually have to have that many blocking minions equal to the attacking minions. That leads to very few actions in your turn. Boring. With 3rd edition you not only have On the Qui Vive but also Minor Irritation and Guard Dogs. In addition you get some good pol. actions and bleed bounce as well as good combat cards. All that means better possibilities for good deckbuilding.Being less access to wakes and bloat just makes for more intense games.
Of course you are right in saying that every player has the same limits. But of what use is it if everybody gets an unsatisfying deck?

In my opinion Gehenna is not a good set to draft. We tried it often but the only cards ending up in the decks were the archetypes. And they weren't that useful.

Oh, that idea is worth a try.
When we draft mostly from one small set around here, we usually allow titles to contest, but not vampires. This way not as many players get hosed by contesting.
