With a cool layout, every card looks more powerfulIn other news, I'm very much impressed by the Thoughts Betrayed redesign, since it is now cheaper and in Potence, which seems very much better than the current card text.

anddd... i'm spent for the night.
let me know what y'all think.
there's a bunch of awesome shit that can be done with variable sized text boxes with this design, but i'm pretty sure programming the pathfinding algorithm to determine the optimal sized text box is going to be one giant kick in the urethrea.
Ke, this was a genius idea, and if we ever manage to cross paths, drinks are on me. It was a pleasure and a delight to play around with them.

the amount of texture in the box can be easily changed. I think i went with a 30% opacity over a white background.

and the Self Biased twist:
Too much noise; what's important is the information — not the texture.

To print! — time to compare to actual cards:
Bummer, turns out the first few characters of the title are VERY important. Actually, this offers an opportunity to simplify the card further and reduce icon noise. Since we now name the card type we can drop the icon to make space for the title — this has the bonus effect of the player only having to match discipline icons. Win!
Here are some direct comparisons:

I think there's too much going on. Once the cards are printed clarity becomes even more paramount (see previous post). Also icon size and alignment needs to be consistent, as does padding, margins and text alignment.
The redesign allows for left aligned text; which is much clearer to read — providing the left hand column is aligned. So all text should be left aligned.
