file Low-impact flavor cards in starters

Hello,

It is way better to have functional decks than decks which contain clan flavor.

Sure, V5 is a starter set and as such these not as top notch decks could've probably spared a card slot or two for flavor cards. But I'm not expecting another such starter box any time soon...

I would rather say it is good to have both deck since new players can look for flavorfull games too.
I do not think adding 1/2 cards to existing starters make hudge functional difference.

Regards,
Rémi.

Considering how BCP does promo packages for events, it would not be out of the question to "poke the waters" by releasing a "flavor expansion" for the fifth edition. It could even be priced accordingly as it would refresh interest towards Fifth Edition hopefully getting people who passed it to think again. Talking about casuals here. For "vets", just include 10 Pulled Fangs and Dreams in it to ensure purchase. Perhaps include some of the previous "promo only, to be included in future set" vampires?

Price below a full deck, in the couple beer or pizza ratio and sales are guaranteed. No need for fancy packaging, after all the main point is to fit inside the existing V5 box.

EDIT: Think Carcassone with it's bazillion mini expansion, or the various kickstarter "additional cards etc" situations. Main deal is not to create competing product, but support and market the existing one. With low cost akin to promo production runs, minimal packaging (shrinkwrap with EAN and Fifth Edition Expansion stamp) and inclusion of enough "good" cards every vet player is going to need dozens it should be relatively risk free launch. And depending how things stand, run a limited launch first with special set symbol or whatnot, let people fight for it and then print to oblivion if it sells. But pray tell don't stab those early buyers in the back by promising limited run that is followed with oblivion print. Keeping the price same also helps with future customer relations.

It is rather silly to think that these things are mutually exclusive.

I have always liked it best when both flavor and function coincide.

I'm a rather silly person...

People always tend to have bitched about how good the precon decks are and by adding even 1/2 cards mostly for flavor is going to water them down further.

Sure, flavor is the salt of the game (or one of the salts anyways) but adding flavor cards that actually work in the deck and justify their presence might not be as easy as it sounds.

Like said, starter boxes like the big V5 box which already are geared toward newbies would be a prime place to add such flavor cards since the decks are already somewhat watered down in favor of easy playability and such.

I wouldn't start fiddling this way with the "proper" precons just so each of them would get additional clan flavor. Rather concentrate on making them as close to Tier 1 as possible.

I always thought it's sad that quite numerous equipment and retainers are mostly unused.
IMHO the card slot occupation and taking action to get them is already a fair enough price and wonder if the Equip and Recruit actions should not have added "Once per turn, when a minion performs equip / recruit action, he or she unlocks". Once per turn to avoid obvious spam.
Cards that already do have similar unlock effects might need to be rebalanced, but it would make equipment and retainers a bit more usable, I think. Same idea might even be extended to allies.

actually, I don't think it would really make less used equipment to be used but good equipment to be more played.

And so, everybody will play Heart of Nizchetus, Tasha Morgan and JS Simons etc...
