Yeah, I'd say our drafting and deck building takes about an hour, maybe a little longer sometimes. We do play with the 2hr time limit and our tables occasionally go to time, but for the most part, games do end within the time limit.

Key question, as I think, is optimal number of cards per player.
Somebody think that recursion is fun and at least one is needed.
Somebody thinks that recursions are bad because it add disbalance allowing to play powerful card tvise.
Obviosly too few cards is boring, but to many cards is also bad.
What experienced players are thinking?

I'm okay with one recursion. I am opposed to multiple recursions. There are interesting things about knowing that you will see cards again, but interesting and fun aren't the same thing. What appeal there is to me in limited V:TES comes from lack of predictability, which is why sealed that uses precons is often just painful to play.
Assuming you use boosters as a guideline even though we are talking about cube draft, figure 5 cards per booster go into a deck. That means 8 boosters to have 40 card decks, which is sufficient to me to have no recursions, but I can see how people think decks this size are too small. Down to even four boosters means one recursion gets to a 40 card "deck". But, I think four boosters is pretty weak, with 20 actual cards being little diversity. Five or six boosters with one recursion is more reasonable.
In other words, enough cards to have 25-40 card minimum decks, of course allowing that some people like to play fatter decks. Need at least 40 to eliminate recursions all together

Do somebody know who actually made limited guidlines of 5 library/1 vampire from 11 card booster?
Maybe it's possible, if we are making specialised cube, to aim for other numbers?
As I remember mtg drafts, it's three 15 card boosters (45 cards total) with 23-24 cards going into 40 card deck (+lands). If we go with 8 VtES boosters its 88 card total with 48 cards used - so twice as many cards (and time). Is there a possibility, that it will be too hard/long for players, espessially new?
Vague idea - provide some staple cards (blood management, wakes ets) for free, like lands?

I´m not sure what this thread is really about (how can a draft cube be an alternative to a relaunch?!), but I have asked the person responsible for the successful Gothcon cube to post some info about it. Obviously he has not chosen to do so, yet.
Info about my own cube can be found here: stockholmjyhad.blogspot.se/2013/08/cube-draft-stockholm-1.html

Alternative not to relaunch, but to a most often suggested form of relaunch as a set of starters (or PoD or any other). After thinking this idea all other ideas looks much less interesting for me.
Thanks for link to your cube. Can you pleas elaborate, why you chose "7 boosters, deck size 45, crypt size 7 and 1 recursion" and do you still think that it's the best "numbers"?
