Book Review: The Utterly Uninteresting and Unadventurous Tales of Fred, the Vampire Accoun

The book title is so long it doesn't fit the title limit.

As you would expect from a book with a long name it is wry, witty and amusing. Who says you can't judge a book by it's cover?

The pacing of the book is very episodic. It's five "books" (episodes) divided into 7 or 8 chapters each. Each book is self contained but continues from the previous one.

The main character, Fred, is your fairly typical reluctant vampire. Embraced and abandoned he finds his own way: which is he continues his job as an accountant (working from home) and his failed attempts at hunting direct him to make an arrangement with a hospital he cooks the books for for blood.

Of course things pick up when Fred decides to go to his 10 year high school reunion (only so many of those you can go to when you don't age.) He runs into one of his only friends from his school days, who now works for an unnamed government agency dealing with the supernatural.

Fred the vampire is just trying to live his un-life and in network television fashion grows an eclectic group of supernatural friends, not unlike Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Fun to read, and did I mention it's free? Get the Kindle edition free while you can. Then buy the sequel, support the writer! (or do what I did and request your local library get the sequel so you can borrow it!)
