what would you like as prize support was created by gotcha
Hopefully one day i will organize a tournament so some thoughts and a question:
1: you play the wrong game if you think is a major issue;
2: nonetheless if I make it to a final I'm happy to have made it to the final - ) and it's always fun to get a booster, starter or whatever price support is given away (thank you tournament organizers for that)
3: but getting a black hand booster to have made it to the final is ... like ... let's say I think those who didn't make the final should get a black hand booster ... you get it.
4: prize support I would dig:
- SLEEVES (i never have enough of these)
- (cool) counters
- a nice edge (like a simple round shiny one that might say: you made it to the finals of .... - )
> maybe figure out if it's affordable and it can be given for NCs?
- Oort(je) once had a set of danse macabre printed (not legal for play) which was really cool!
and the question: what would you like as price support (that is reasonable to purchase)

I would like the most expensive part of the tenth anniversary tins as prize support....
Deck tins.
Or boxes.
Think about all the badass art there is in DM and TU. VEKN can slap that onto boxes, shirts, whatever the artists agree to. Pop "vekn.net" across the top, avoid our beloved tri-snakes for legal reasons, and its golden.

The thought:
Hurray! Don't forget to consult your NC when looking for prize support. Plenty of stuff is available (t-shirts, promos, boosters, deckbags, artwork).
The answer:
As an organiser I prefer to give all participants a prize (1 booster and/or some promos), then something extra for the finalists (more booster) and something more for the winner.
As participant I don't really mind about prize support. A Big Whopper on the way to a german tournament is all the support I need

I will D-, also on how to organize, lol.
I agree with giving everyone something and a little extra for finalists / winner and as I try to state in the first point: if price support matters to you, you're playing the wrong game. But you need the buy something anyway so why not something different then a booster pack most people do not have any use for; unless it is httb / keepers / ... but those are too expensive / rare.
Again, the price support of Oort I considered highly original and usefull and maybe not much more expensive then a keepers starter deck.
So ... keep the ideas and opinions coming - )

Boosters and promos have become less interesting for regular players over the last years, since these players are supposed to have "almost everything" they need or want.
Nevertheless, it is always nice to get at least "something" for having participated in a tournament.
For bigger events like ECQs or Nationals, I try to present something unique or at least hard to get (and related to the game).
Signed (and framed) art prints are nice (if affordable), edges (e.g. made of stone) or sleeves are fine, too, even (rare) cards (from less common editions).
And I like the idea of giving something away not only to the winner, but also to somebody random, thus everybody has at least a chance to "win" something.
Plus, you can always bring along some cards you don't play or need yourself (even a bunch of commons), because there are many players out there who are quite grateful for such "promo stuff".

I usually use tournament kits from rose tattoo. Prize distribution in my opinion should give people at least what they pay in value, then offer extras to game wins, tournament wins and finalists if possible. This usually works out to 2 boosters and promos to all, then gws get a booster. All finalists get special promos (I.e. victor p., nergal, etc). Tournament winner gets the rare set and leftover boosters are distributed to finalists or winner if available. That costs around $5 per person.
