file Aching Beauty, Ousting and Change of Target

05 Dec 2011 08:31 #17098 by Kraus
Hello!

My prey is in one pool, and Klaus van der Veken with Aching Beauty bleeds for one. He is blocked, and I oust my prey. Do I still have time to play Change of Target before my oust, since I was blocked?

Only usable when this acting minion is blocked (play before combat, if any). Untap the acting minion, do not tap the blocking minion, and end the current action (it is not successful). This minion cannot perform the same action again this turn.

Master.
Put this card on a Toreador. If this Toreador is blocked, the controller of the blocking minion burns 1 pool (before combat occurs, if any).

We had this issue yesterday, and decided I can play whatever action modifiers I wish before the action is finally concluded, and the player ousted.

Also, I couldn't find a direct link or reference to the new rulings of cards from VEKN front page. Where can I find the actual news post on the new rulings? I thought there would've been more noise about it.

Yes, you can play Change of Target before the oust.

You can read here a ruling that has to do with those cards and Last Stand (only relevant because after the oust another turn starts).

Correct:

still burn a pool?
A: Yes. There had been some talk of changing the mechanic of blocking and
block-induced combat (to match the Sabbat text of Obedience), but that
was too complicated and unintuitive, and it led to some mis-matched
rulings. Both Obedience and Change of Target are played after the block
is successful but before the blocker is tapped and combat begins. (Note:
this is errata to the Sabbat version of Obedience, making it read as the
V:TES version reads.)
