Must I burn X blood right after playing LR or I can burn blood consecutively (like Maris Streck's ability) waiting for the opposing minion to play additional strikes or else?

You must decide on a value for X when you play it so no consecutive burning.

Would be an excellent card if that worked.

If Lightning Reflexes said "Put this card in play" then I guess you could consecutively burn blood just as Maris can.

The reason Maris can use her ability over and over again is that the cardtext "Maris can burn a blood to give a blocking minion +1 intercept." does not follow the ruling "'During time period X, (you may) do Y' limits Y to once per phase X. [LSJ 19970625]."

For example:
Joseph O'Grady has cardtext: "During a referendum, Joseph may burn 1 blood to gain 1 vote" which you can see has a "During X you may do Y."-template

It is like Awe: both can only be used once, and the 'X' is paid when
the card is played.

Pay 1 blood to play the card, burn X=1 blood for one additional strike.
