file Target:XYZ and Non-Damage Strikes

Do Target:XYZ cards actually stack with non-damage strikes?
e.g. Would Target: Head deal damage with a Tongue of the Serpent or Coma?

For example:

Target Head
Type: Combat
Aim. Play when choosing a strike.
The strike does +2 damage. The opposing minion may discard a combat card [COMBAT] to cancel this card. If any damage from this strike is successfully inflicted on the opposing minion, he or she cannot use any additional strikes or presses this round, and you may set the range for the next round. A minion may play only one aim each strike.

Target Vitals
Type: Combat
Aim. Play when choosing a strike.
If any damage from this strike is successfully inflicted on the opposing minion, he or she takes an additional 2 damage from this strike, and he or she cannot press this round. The opposing minion may discard two combat cards [COMBAT] to cancel this card. A minion may play only one aim each strike.

Theft of Vitae
Type: Combat
Requires: Thaumaturgy
[tha] Strike: ranged. Steal 1 blood.
[THA] Strike: ranged. Steal 2 blood.

Tongue of the Serpent
Type: Combat
Requires: Serpentis
[ser] Strike: steal 1 blood.
[SER] Strike: steal 2 blood.

Coma
Type: Combat
Requires: Dementation
Cost: 3 blood
[dem] Strike: opposing vampire goes into torpor.
[DEM] As above, and that vampire does not untap as normal during his or her controller's next untap phase.

A ruling specified that you cannot increase damage on non damage dealing strike. It traces back to the questions about Reverend Blackwood who inflicts +1 damage with strike that requires :THA:, but of course doesn't work with the thefts of vitae.
You can play the aim cards to cycle though.
Hopefully somebody will come with a link providing LSJ's answer :)

I think card text gives an explanation here:

The Traget: XYZ cards state "If any damage from this strike is successfully inflicted on the opposing minion,"...
...which means that the Target: XYZ card does excatly nothing if the underlying strike does not deal damage in the first place.

...which means that the Target: XYZ card does excatly nothing if the underlying strike does not deal damage in the first place.

your explanation would be perfect if target head did not feature the text "This strike does +2 damage" ;)

There's a ruling however... Let's wait for the link-providing rulemongers :p

You can play it, like you can play Lucky Blow on a Rowan Ring strike (though it has no effect to add damage to a non-damaging strike).

Semi-correct.
"You can play it, like you can play Lucky Blow on a Rowan Ring strike. It won't add any damage, but if you use, say, Target Vitals on a Rowan Ring strike, the opponent can discard 2 cards to cancel it as it is played."
