The Summoning and retainers requiring disciplines

The Summoning and retainers requiring disciplines was created by chrisinpm
I was wondering if employing a retainer via The Summoning waives the requirement for the minion in question to have a discipline normally required by the retainer.
For example, can a minion with PRE but without ANI use the card to get a Wolf Companion?
My gut instinct is "no" but then I found this under Retainers in General Rulings, which seems to imply "yes" (with the caveat noted).
"If a retainer which requires a Discipline to be employed is brought into play by a means other than "Employ Retainer", treat it as if it were brought into play with the basic version of the Discipline. [RTR 19960221]"
Thanks

You can't employ a retainer with The Summoning. You can only search for one at basic. It would certainly be nice to be able to employ a retainer with it, but you can't.
If you mean "Can you recruit an ally whose requirements you don't meet?", someone else will have to answer that.
Summoning, The

+1 stealth action.
Search your library for an ally or retainer. Show it to all players and put it in your hand (shuffle and discard afterward).
Search your library for an ally. This vampire recruits that ally (requirements and cost apply as normal). Shuffle afterward.

This part explain that :
* requirements are not waived
* if the ally need a discipline (Underbridge stray, for example), then the level of the discipline on the vampire is applied to the ally.

Compel the Spirit
Action
Necromancy
+1 stealth action.
Move an ally or retainer that was burned from play since your last turn from your ash heap to your hand.
As above, but move it to your ready region (ignore requirements and cost) with X life from the blood bank, where X is the starting life of the ally or retainer. If it is a retainer, place it on the acting minion.

The summoning at superior says "requirements and cost still apply". This means, among other things, if a discipline is required, you must have it to recruit the ally. Also, as was mentiond, you can not employ a retainer with the summoning.I was wondering if employing a retainer via The Summoning waives the requirement for the minion in question to have a discipline normally required by the retainer.
An example of this is seen with compel the spirit. If you used this card at superior on Underbridge Stray it would be put into your ready region using the basic level of the discipline. Likewise, if you put Wolf Companion, Raven Spy, or Raptor into play using compel the spirit they would all be at the basic level. Notice Compel the Spirit says "Ignore requirements and costs" also."If a retainer which requires a Discipline to be employed is brought into play by a means other than "Employ Retainer", treat it as if it were brought into play with the basic version of the Discipline. [RTR 19960221]".

The important part is the verb "recruit".
If you recruit, you must follow all the rule of the recruiting action, including having the discipline and all.
If you put into play (with Summon History or Compel the Spirit), then you don't need to have the requirement, and if the ally require a discipline, you have the inferior version.
(please note that if, say, Gwyedd use Summon history to put into play an Underbridge stray, he will have the inferior version. You can't have the superior version if you don't recruit the ally or employ the retainer)
