This is a very simple question. Do you have to block in order to play Obedience? The question arose when player A attempted to Bums Rush player B's older vampire at stealth. Player B had no intercept, but played Obedience to cancel combat. The card text doesn't state that you must block, but player A believes it is just understood that you must successfully block first. Who is right?

You don't have to succesfully block in order to use Obedience, you only have to be able to play reaction cards (be untapped or use reaction which would allow you to play rections/untap your vampire).

Cardtext.
Name: Obedience
Cardtype: Reaction
Discipline: Dominate
Only usable when this reacting vampire is about to enter combat with an acting younger vampire.
[dom] Untap the acting vampire, do not tap this reacting vampire, and end the current action (and combat). The acting vampire cannot attempt the same action this turn.
[DOM] As above, but do not untap the acting vampire.
